Scrobbles of Septicflesh - what's going on?

Today I went into my last.fm and I saw one artist more than it was yesterday. I searched when I probably scrobble sth wrong, but I didn't find anything, so I go into my library artists, and realised that Septicflesh scrobbles are.. splitted up? To be honest, it looks like some of my scrobbles (about 100) went into the same named artist (both are Septicflesh) but when I clicked on Septicflesh with 3k scrobbles I saw the site with this ~100 scrobblings. I will post some screenshots, which better reveal my problem.

This "100 scrobbles" Septicflesh (position no.155)

Septicflesh with 3k scrobbles

And scrobbles site to both of them

I hope you will help me and make it correct.

EDIT: I also realised one fav song missing, but it's probably connected with this problem above.

I'll just quote myself, FROM OVER 6 MONTHS AGO...

I haven't ONCE scrobbled "Septic Flesh" as "Septicflesh", and yet 35 tracks have apparently been attributed to Septicflesh. It was actually less before, so it only seems to get worse for me... as usual.

In other words, could last.fm FFS PLEASE let me decide for my own how to tag my tracks! Kthxbye.

Yes, as Last.fm is shit after a whole year (and few months more) that this problem is also not fixed after... well, 8 months.

Just don't know if I should say in capitalized letters "WTF LAST.FM" or just sit in front of screen and be sad with you, The_Ogre.

Still going on :-(

So many things are being so-called enhancements of the website and they are not even capable to merge two artists after months of requests from Users. SHAME!!!

Hey guys, I'm sorry it's taking so long to address what looks like a deceptively simple issue, but this particular bug represents a somewhat fundamental problem with how the catalogue and scrobble storage system interact.  Unfortunately the fix we had in place for Septicflesh mentioned earlier in the year isn't viable, because it causes problems with your library elsewhere. It's not as simple as just setting up a correction x -> y.

The development are working hard to address the underline cause of this and many other issues with the catalogue -- rest assured, I'm voicing your concerns and frustration on to management at pretty much every meeting, and reminding the team that people are patiently waiting for the resolution of this problem.  When there's news to share, staff will definitely update this thread, so please use the follow button to get email notifications on this issue. In the meantime thanks for your patience and understanding.

Yup, 10 months of existing this topic is something scared, but at least you gave us hope, Jon, that staff is looking at this and worrying as we are, thanks for that!

By the way, some kind of update of my scrobbles status - currently they are in state like "Septic Flesh" was, still redirected to "Septicflesh". Only after taking "+noredirect/Septic Flesh" whole are visible.
Month / two ago were conversely, "Septicflesh" scrobbles were in "Septicflesh" page.

By the way, Jon, quick question for you, as I asked for this when the topic started - are my one "heart" (fav track, of course) missing because of this bug with scrobbles? I mean, is it this possible? Don't know if it was SF song which disappeared.

I think Septic is fixed for me. However this "bug" still affects certain tracks.

The ones I've encountered so far (if it helps) are...

Blind Witness - Baby One More Notch
Thy Art Is Murder - Engineering The Antichrist
Shade Empire - Ja Pimeys Laskeutui

I'm pretty sure there're many more.

Tom, can you elaborate a bit more on the missing loved track?  Do you know which track is missing?  Or is it just that the counter is 1 less than you expected? Did it change around the same time as this bug?

It probably is the same thing, as other people have reported problems with loved tracks related to corrections, but we'll know for sure when the SF problem is fixed.

I only realised missing track, sadly I have too many loved tracks to remember particular songs. I just wonder if it can be Septicflesh song, as this appeared +/- when problems with SF scrobbles began.

For crying out loud! I guess spoke too soon.

Again... I'm not going to, nor did I ever, change any of my "Septic Flesh" tags into "Septicflesh". Yet now, you guys are apparently forcing me to do so, because none of my new plays are being add up.
As of now, I have 900 plays of "Septicflesh" and 65+ (new plays) for "Septic Flesh". The latter of which was (and probably always will be) my preferred tag, but has now been added to my library as a new artist! Seriously guys, this is no fix! Besides that, there is no way to view those 65+ scrobbles, 'cause whatever I do, I get redirected to the "Septicflesh" page.
Since "Septicflesh" came later, you should never, I repeat NEVER, change any of the tags from prior to the name change. It should be the other way around! Just let it stay as "Septic Flesh", and (if you're not willing to add them up) scrobble any new ones as "Septicflesh". It pains me to even have to explain this.

After all this freakin' time, my initial complaint still remains... or got worse, for that matter. Bug or not, l'd like to decide for myself how to tag my music!! The same goes for track titles, obviously.

Seriously unbelievable.

Moreover... "Behold... The Architect" have changed their name to "Behold The Architect" (without the dots), since freakin' 2012. Yet, in this case, Last.fm apparently doesn't care about the name change? There're probably countless of other examples as well. Please, just stop forcing the auto-correct down everyone's/my throat.

Just sayin...

About ONE YEAR. Staff, I understand everything, but the hell are you doing... some artists makes more than 20 albums per year and no one even did anything with this (as Jon said before) simple problem. Don't wait until whole new libraries will be done, give us correct Septic Flesh now.

I'm missing almost 800-900 scrobbles, one favourite track and 2 artists in my library, as you said. But the saddest fact is that it's over the year and nothing changed, while new updates are produced with quite shitty features.

I'm pretty sure that if Last.fm said "we need two months for updating this and this, also add some important things you wanted us to add" people will stay patiently in hope it will be done.

This is crazy. I want my Septicflesh scrobbles... The Titan album splits everytime I listen to it. When it will be corrected?

Same here, and it's only one album that is responsible for this issue. That theoretically seems like an easy thing to solve? I don't know what to think about this.

Scrobbles of old albums and new one Septic Flesh, but I should mention I have both of them named as separate "Septic Flesh", with the space between words.
What's going on, dear Last.fm staff..

Could probably be because of the fact that the new album is new, therefore the site "trust you" and links it to the "Septic Flesh" tag (which by the way still exists). And it's indeed weird but logical at the same time, because the "Septicflesh" and "Septic Flesh" tags are both technically usable but only one's gotta win it.

I'm gonna copy/paste on here the post I made on the band's page:
tracks 1, 3, 6, 8 and 10 of Titan are fucked up and as a result, another "Titan" album and "Septicflesh" artist will be added to your library if you scrobble them (plus, they both redirect you to the actual pages of the artist and the album I mentioned). The rest of the tracks don't have this problem, weird. You can check by yourself that the tracks that I mentioned have 2+ times less of listeners than the tracks which don't have this issue. Anyway, lastfm needs to fix this as soon as possible.

For you guys to understand, here's a picture that illustrates the problem:

Take tracks 1 and 2 for instance, you can clearly see the difference in the number of listeners.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Septicflesh shows as two bands.

Septicflesh is showing up like two seperate bands, it means scrobbles are divided in two unnecessary groups and doesn't show correctly. It goes on for years, I hoped it will be solved, but it is not, so I am reporting it. Didn't find it in here, sorry if it is already reported.

Just to recap as it's not clearly stated in this particular thread:  This issue will be fixed when we deploy an upgrade to the scrobble database which powers user libraries.  We were hoping to deploy this last month, however testing identified a number of issue that needed to be resolved before we can make this available to users, so unfortunately we're running behind schedule by at least a month.  As the new database completely replaces the existing scrobble storage solution, it's extremely important that we ensure that the data and scrobble counts are correct for all users -- that's essentially why it's taking so long to complete. Thanks for your patience and understanding in the meantime.

Edit: The fix for this is now being rolled out as part of the new scrobbles database, which you can read about here.

Looks like the problem with the "Titan" album still exists. I noticed one interesting thing: when I turn the autocorrection on and then log out, my chart looks properly (pic 1). But when I'm logged in, it splits up again (pic 2).

Thanks.  We're testing a new scrobble database which fixes this bug and similar problems with the library.  Your user account isn't in the test group yet (which is why you see the album split when logged in), but a small percentage of logged out users will see it (which is why you saw it merged when logged out).

Ok, thanks for explaining.
