Spotify Scrobbling Down?

The @lastfmstatus twitter account stated an API auth issue was fixed a number of hours back, https://twitter.com/lastfmstatus/status/1222194195814895619 yet nothing has scrobbled from Spotify for me all day.

It keeps stopping, especially if i am using the Desktop App on Windows 10. Annoying.

iTunes is scrobbling fine for me but Spotify hasn't scrobbled for hours now.

Mine was scrobbling accurately up until about an hour or so ago, nothing since then

I attempted disconnecting and reconnecting my Spotify to last.fm (which worked last night) but it was unsuccessful in regaining the ability to scrobble

Edit: I disconnected and reconnected for a third time and it worked

Edit 2: It stopped working again after about 20 successful seconds

I tried anything, but nothing helped. They really need to fix that, it's incredible that we are still with no solution.

Spotify scrobbling with the Last.fm feature in your connected apps is currently not working. Starting the Spotify web player parallel to their desktop app does not kick-start it this time, neither switching playback to the web player then with Spotify Connect.

Enabling the Web Scrobbler browser extension in the Spotify web player still works, so that is one way to circumvent the problem. Probably enabling Spotify scrobbling again in the Last.fm Android app or other external Android apps will also work, but I cannot check that.

Playing my Mix radio on the Last.fm site with YouTube also works, so it is not a general problem, only Spotify scrobbling. Staff has been notified, but I don't know when the first staff member will be back in office.

If you want to prevent losing scrobbles, do not use the usual Spotify scrobbling method for more than 50 tracks, because their API will only show the last 50 songs, anything older cannot be scrobbled anymore. So if you can, try either the Web Scrobbler in the web player or the Last.fm Android app with Spotify scrobbling enabled. They will also add songs to your Spotify listening history though, so you should rather not use Spotify at all until the problem is fixed and e.g. use another streaming site like Deezer, scrobble directly from the Last.fm site with YouTube as your playback source or from your local music library with the Last.fm desktop app.

The process has been restarted, but there is a backlog now which will take a while to appear on your profiles.

Hi, sorry this still isn't working yet.  

This morning we encountered a problem with Spotify scrobbling affecting one of our 4 Spotify shards.  The shard has been restarted and we're replaying the scrobbles from last night / this morning, however it's going to take several hours to fully catch up for some users (probably the better part of today, tbh) -- it's difficult to estimate exactly because the service is processing both the scrobbles during the outage and the new ones coming in. 

Sorry for any inconvenience caused by this issue -- we will post updates to this thread and @lastfmstatus with more information.

Does this affect the non-Spotify scrobbles as well? My latest scrobbling is now five hours old.

Yes, because the backlog and the resulting lag is really big, so if you can already see incoming scrobbles on your profile, they are mixed with older and newer scrobbles from other sources, too.

My scrobbles came through from this morning eventually, but have now stopped scrobbling again for the last 30 minutes.

My scroobling hasn't been working for the last 24 hours. Briefly yesterday morning I turned off the "Share my listening activity on Spotify" option and I think the problem may have started then. But I've since turned it back on (and tried turning it back off and on again several times) and it's still not scroobling. I've checked Applications under last.fm settings and I have options for both Spotify Scroobling and Spotify Playback. Both are currently connected, and I've tried disconnecting and reconnecting to both, and I've also tried just have one of each going at a time, and no combination works. I've also tried logging off of Spotify and logging back on, and I've tried reinstalling the desktop app to make sure I have the most up-to-date version, but nothing works. Anything I can do?

Be patient, they've already said it will take hours to churn through the backlog.  Some users on Twitter are beginning to say scrobbles are appearing now.  So I'm sure we'll be fine once the backlog clears.

Mine is finally scrobbling recent stuff, but it's still missing a good amount from yesterday. I'm assuming it's just the backlog. Glad it got fixed.
