Email verification problem: "Sending failed, try again?"

I got a message "you need to verify your email address! Click the link in your confirmation email or visit the verification page." I did not get an e-mail and I get "Sending failed, try again?" if i ask to resend it.

the same thing has happened to me - seems typical lastfm, do or require something but not actually enable for the users to do it.

I have the same exact problem here! "Hey In2TheBlues, you need to verify your email address! Click the link in your confirmation email or visit the verification page." I've hit the resend button a dozen times and nothing! Does anyone have an answer / solution to this problem?

I got the same message on my page, also did not had the email with verification link, but when clicked on the "send again" link in that page, I DID get my email. And the link in this email worked fine (it did his job of verifying/confirming my email address).
So ... I don't know, I don't think I'm just a lucky guy and that function worked only for me.
Maybe your email in the settings ("account" tab) is not there ? Or the initial email address you saved for your last.fm profiles is not valid anymore ?

P.S. For me this worked about 12 hours ago. Maybe if you all try this again now, it will work for you, too ?

Hi there,

Sorry about this, there's indeed a problem here that affects some of you (this happens when you've used your email address on more than one account).

If you're seeing this error, you should be able to work around it for now by doing the following:

1. Go to your account settings page at https://secure.last.fm/settings/account
2. Save your email address (you don't need to change it)
3. Go back to the verification page https://secure.last.fm/join/verify and request another verification email from there

This should then work after re-saving your email address. Hope this helps!

Laura, I have not been able to verify since the update yesterday. I have followed your instructions and still can't verify email and still have the yellow banner across my page. I tried logging out and in again and when my password didn't work, I clicked on the link to ask to change it and was successful in getting an email from LFM to said problem email address  so don't know why I can't get this verification to work? Is there any reason why I shouldn't just use a different email address?
When I tried to 're-save' my email address a 2nd time I got this error message:

Hi Sharon,

When you say you're not able to verify, are you seeing the error that's described here, or are you not getting the verification email that we send? Or does following the verification link from the email not work?

You can use any email address you like (it needs to be unique in our system, so using it on more than one account doesn't work) - after changing it, it'll ask you again to verify the new address.

Hi Laura, correction:  sending is not the problem as I get the response:  "verification email sent" each time I try... (I never did get the original email from LFM)  but I do NOT get any verification emails sent. This is the only LFM profile I am using this email address on. I have a secondary profile but that has a different email address.

Do you want me to start a new thread Laura? as this problem is somewhat different?

Yes, this sounds like a different issue. I don't know why you might be getting this email, if you got the password reset one fine (apart from the usual, it can take a bit longer, end up in the spam folder, ...).
If you have a different email address that you can use, try if that works better?

Could you tell us your Last.fm username, please? So we can check if you're having the same issue as described here, or a different one. Cheers :)

I notice if i click resend email quickly in succession the "Sending failed, try again?" is no longer present but I receive no email if i click resend email one time I still get the message Sending failed, try again?

toadstool, it does look like you're having the same problem as the others who've posted here.

Have you tried saving your email address on https://secure.last.fm/settings/account (as it is shown there), to see if you get a verification email after doing this?

Hi Laura yes I did save email address it does not work I just tried signing in from another browser and its not accepting my login so that seems to be the issue I have no idea what is going on but my info was not changed by me.

I just tried to have my password reset and it tells me you don't have my email address "We are unable to send a password reset email with the username or email address provided. Please check your details and try again. If you continue to have problems, please contact support. "

But when I use just my username the request appears to have been sent I did receive the email am hesistant to click reset link as it did not recognize my email address to resend I am logged in on my Chrome browser the cookie is saved so I never log out and my email address is present in the settings so i have no idea what to do?

Also the email was sent to the correct address very odd it rejects email address to resend password or username.

To make matters more confusing it allowed me to login from the other browser by just using my username and password so its not recognizing my email yet it did send the reset password to the correct address using just my username as send option.

Its looking like the only way to fix this is for the verification page to require username field instead of email address to resend "verify your email address" my opinion seems logical to me until it can be fixed properly.

to recap I am logged in in Chrome as its a persistent cookie I set I won't dare logout, using the Edge Browser I can login under username but not if I try to use my email address I also am not able to recover password or username as it rejects my email address. Saving email in settings as suggested fix does not work so I am unable to get required email verification because my email is not recognized by your system.

I am a longtime member.

Why am I being asked to verify my email?

"When you change the email address associated with your account, we will ask you to verify it. We’re also asking users with older accounts to verify their details, to make sure they’re up-to-date."

Why on earth are older members being required to do this anyhow? And no I have not changed my email address nor will I as I may run into even bigger issues.

Thank you Laura. Going to settings and clicking change email address (even though I didn't actually change it) did the trick and I received the verification email instantly. For what it's worth, though, I have only ever registered ONE account using that very address, so, no, the problem does not affect (only) users that have used the same email address to create multiple accounts. That's false.

Pretty sure I've only used my email for this account, but simply saving my address in settings prompted the verification email.

Didn’t get the email? Try checking your junk mail folder — sometimes they can be over-vigilant. If you still can’t find it, or typed the wrong address, you can resend it:

and nothing happens

I could not find the confirmation email that was supposedly sent to me, and I was also unable to re-send another one (the send-button and email field was disabled at http://www.last.fm/join/verify). After waiting a few days I was then finally able to send one from the verify page to confirm it yesterday, and it worked.

Just to put it out there, since there seems to be some different issues with the confirmation system.

Im getting the same problem. Says failed to send.
I have also did what the rep says and it still don't work.
Finally got it to work after 5 or 6 trys.
