Solve redundant tag genres

Some genres are duplicates and ultimately redundant. One example, inspired by this topic, is hip hop and hip-hop being treated by the website as two different tags, while they should be merged: https://www.reddit.com/r/lastfm/comments/cco8d7/is_there_any_way_to_stop_hiphop_and_hip_hop_being/
IMHO Last.fm should finally think about making order in tags, perhaps putting genres in a different entry which would work by adopting the same method of Rateyourmusic or even using it as an automatic database for genres related to albums (it would also solve joke tags like Justin Bieber labelled as brutal death metal, since RYM's community is serious in avoiding these situations and the admins ban anyway those who upvote similar things messing around albums).

They are tags, not genres. While many tags resemble genres they aren't genres exclusively and shouldn't be viewed as such. You seem to speak about genres and tags as if they are the same, this is not so. You should not be looking at last.fm for accurate genre representation, as you're aware there are better sites for that.

Though, talking from experience, with some dose of scepticism, Last.fm can be most accurate source for genres. It's just matter of not believing everything, but taking such guides more generally and learning from sounds and comments, correcting some not-that-obvious-at-first-sight mistakes (i.e. "war metal" on Sabaton site)

I never used to be bothered by other people's tags until they started being used to tell me what I'd been listening to every week.
