Some scrobbles are not being saved

Hello, I started using Last.fm in february and this has been an ongoing issue so far. I listen to a full album, it says of every song that it has been scrobbled but only, lets say 7 of the 10 songs of the album are actually being scrobbled and shown on my page. What's going on? Is it a current issue that more people are having due to maintenance? I hope that someone can help me out with this, it's frustrating. I use Spotify and the android app to scrobble. My Last.fm username is rubenroelsma. Also, in the app, whenever I want to see my recent scrobbles it always says "server unavalilable" so I have to check it through my browser. Thanks in advance!

Are you listening to the tracks in full or skipping at any point? Are the tracks all over 30 seconds long?

I'm out of ideas then sorry! I had a lot of problems with scrobbling through spotify on my iPhone so i switched to Apple music and havent had a problem since, probably not viable for you on Adroid. You can always use https://openscrobbler.com to add the scrobbles your missing out on. Time consuming, but an option.

I started using Pano Scobbler instead of Last.fm one. Everything seems to be working fine now.

If you use Spotify, it is recommended to connect your account to Spotify Scrobbling, here.

I can't use that feature since my dad also uses the Spotify account mainly on his computer and i just want to scrobble the music that i listen to on my phone, so i don't want Last.fm to scrobble from all devices.

I thought using a different scrobble app (Pano scrobbler) had fixed the issue, but I noticed that some scrobbles are still missing, so weird..

If you have not used it yet, you can test Scroball.

Hi again, so I still haven't been able to fix the issue. I have tried using different scrobblers, it doesn't matter. It's not scrobbling the first song multiple times anymore but I am still missing scrobbles. Also, If I use the last.fm scrobbling app and I want to check my recent scrobbles it always says "unable to connect, server issue" or something like that. I tried importing my scrobbles using this site, so I can create a new account, but it doesn't find my account. I really want to fix this, it's very very annoying. Thanks in advance.

I really want to fix this, I hope someone understands what is going on, it's very very annoying. Thanks in advance.

If  the Last.fm to csv tool cannot find your account and/or listening history, you probably have set your recent tracks on Last.fm to private = invisible in your Privacy settings:

Hi Ruben, so there's nothing wrong with your account as far as I can see -- the reason that third party site and the android app aren't working properly is because you have your recent tracks set to private.  You can change this setting here: https://www.last.fm/settings/privacy

This is definitely a bug as far as our app is concerned (it shouldn't show an error), but I would say the api is doing the right thing (third party apps shouldn't be able to query a user's scrobbles if they've set them to private).

----

As for the problems with scrobbling, are you still having issues with this?  Lately (certainly last night, and on the 12th when you reported problems) we've been experiencing performance issues / lag which has prevented scrobbles from showing up immediately.  That should have cleared up now, but we expect there might be further problems until we deploy a fix for that in a few weeks time.  So it might not be a problem with your app or device, but simply because we were experiencing problems on our side.

In addition, the android app definitely has a problem scrobbling Google Play consistently, and it's a bug we've not been able to pin down yet.  I'm not aware of it affecting Spotify as well, but we have a developer version of the app which seems to work better for some people - you can get this here (it requires an additional permission because it creates a log file on your device).  Failing that I'd recommend using Scroball - I've always found it to be pretty reliable.

Maybe there should be a warning added on the Privacy page that hiding your recent tracks will also affect third-party tools.

So I just listened to an album with the last.fm app and it still skipped a scrobble. I can't install the developer version, it says the setup file is damaged. I will try Scroball. I really thought the private setting thing would have fixed it.

Yeah, the privacy setting accounts for why the app was showing you the error and why that other site wasn't working, but I wouldn't expect it to fix the scrobbling issue.

>>I can't install the developer version, it says the setup file is damaged.

Huh, that's weird.  I'll have to test that next week (unless the download was broken).

Scroball should definitely work, but so you know, we're currently experiencing lag with the scrobble database again, so there may delays with scrobbling in the next 2-3 hours.

Thank you so much! It think this is the problem. Strange though, because I've never set it to private myself. I changed the setting and it already shows recent scrobbles in the app, so that's already positive. I hopw this fixes the issue, I will let you know. Thanks again.
