Tracks without name can't be scrobbled as they have no name.
Blame the artist(s).

"Tracks without name can't be scrobbled as they have no name.
Blame the artist(s)."

But "Unknown" IS the name of the song in several cases.

Dimension Labyrinth - Unknown
Lifehouse - Unknown
Mind.In.A.Box - Unknown
Thy Serpent - Unknown

Etc.

exactly! "Unknown" IS the name, it's not untitled. "Unknown" is a perfectly common title, i imagine. you can't just disallow everything under that name. it's completely ridiculous.

Yeah except "Unknown" IS the official name of the song(s).

Why would we blame the artist? Obviously it's understandable if on the file under artist it is <unknown> but why would you do this for a track title? Like they said, it's a somewhat common title/word. It makes no sense to continue blacklisting this word just because you said so.

How idiotic.

so you're just going to ignore this issue and 'that's just the way it is' is all you're going to say. okay.

If you have access to the tags, I would use a workaround and add something like "[sic!]" to the title, since it is the real title and so you should be able to scrobble it. It's not your fault that the filter is unable to differentiate an untitled song from a song named "Unknown".

That's funny because an artist [unknown] exists.

I mean, if the correct title really is "Unknown", just tag the title like this: "Unknown [sic!]"
Simply some appendix to trick the filter, so you can at least scrobble it and you know which song it was.

It may be not very creative or wise to use titles like "Unknown", but it's not for Last.fm to decide how musicians should name their songs. Some of them may be better in making music than finding a good name.

The problem lies in the design which uses only titles to identify songs. If they used something like the AcoustID, you could name the songs however you want, Last.fm could easily autocorrect the titles and give you way better recommendations. It would also solve several other problems like different versions and remixes or live recordings which are scrobbled falsely under the title of the studio version.

It has been the case for a long time(*). Without whitelisting particular tracks/artists/etc. I expect that this will be the case for some time to come.

In addition, "Track 1", "Track 2", and so on do not scrobble, at least for some artists (e.g., on Harry Pussy's "What Was Music?" album).

Mods, could you please merge these two topics? https://getsatisfaction.com/lastfm/topics/cannot-scrobble-the-song-unknown-by-lifehouse

And great news:
I successfully scrobbled the song "Unknown" by Lifehouse with the YouTube player. That solves one problem.

Please. Make it back as it was. "Unknown" is not a missing tag, it's an actual word.
Also let's face it nowadays most people scrobble from streaming services (not me though) and it's impossible to get incorrect tag there. I had to replace a song name to "Unknownn" for it to scorbble.

Recently tried scrobbling a song called Unknown (https://www.last.fm/music/Grave/_/Unknown) and ran into this same problem. You should be able to scrobble these tracks, it's the title of a song.
