Yes, it's annoying. My main browser is FF and there is no any language suggestion both on PC and phone. But in Chrome it keeps on bothering me each time that I come to the site. Fix it. I prefer english version of the site, don't want to switch to russian or swahili or whatever

I second that. It's really annoying. If I wanted to change language that matches my browser language, I'd done that the first time I saw that banner.
You don't need to point that out for me every goddamn time.
I know it must be one of those "low-priority" bugs (I see no other reason for why this issue hasn't been addressed for 4 months) but maybe you could take a look at it and feel better about crossing one out of the list?

"Under consideration"

Is this a joke? You know it totally defeats the purpose of even having a choice to change the language if all you're gonna do is nag us about it when we do.

It really is mind-boggling what this new version of Last.fm has become.

I never had this problem, but is this seriously an issue still going on? Doesn't seem like a hard fix honestly.

Yes, it's pretty much a permanent fixture on my profile now. I don't even bother removing it anymore.. I mean, what's the point? It's just gonna be back as soon as I refresh the page anyway.

It seems like they just don't care.

Where does it show up? Don't think I've ever seen it. Using Chrome.

Weird, I don't have that. Even when I open an incognito window logged out with my extensions disabled. Huh.

annoys me every day. on the old page i solved this with a bookmark like www.last.fm/user/username?setlang=en but even that doesn't keep the new page from spamming me with language suggestions.

last.fm should also be aware, that the english wiki is most complete. so there is really absolutely no incentive to use any other language.

Hmm... what exactly issue do you have with language on last.fm ?
The only case when I do have such a notification, is when someone here on some forum posts a link to some last.fm artist/song/album/etc. and the URL is in his/her local language (for instance as in such example: http://www.last.fm/fr/music/Vangelis )
And then I simply edit the URL: remove the language part in it (in the above example, I simply remove the /fr part end press ENTER on the URL, and it gives my the default english page.
Other than that I never experienced any issue with language on last.fm. So I'm curious: what was yours about ?

Btw, pretty similar was on the old site, too; back then we had URLs as this: www.lastfm.de/user/blabla and I had edit it as www.last.fm/user/blabla (countless times I did such editing in various games on the old groups...).
And I never experienced any language suggestions from my Firefox browser.

P.S. @Socialized... that is precisely the point in having a localized interface of last.fm in your language; to have everything displayed in your language ! If someone edits the wiki in your language (German for example), it is mandatory to have the wiki in German, even if the German wiki is lower in quality than the English variant ! I can't see why you consider it to be useless...
P.S.2  Even if I'd had a last.fm in my language, personally I would NOT set it as such, I'd have it in English; but that's me... :-)

the problem is plain an simple. my browser language (chrome) is set to german and i want  to browse the english language version of last.fm. whenever i come visit, last.fm suggests to change the language. i'm logged in all the time and i would expect last.fm to store my language preferences in my profile somewhere. but obviously they don't, all they care for are the language settings of my browser.

regarding the localized german wiki: it has considerably less entries and most of them are quite brief. that's why i consider it as useless. so from a theoretical perspective it is nice to have, but as my time is limited (like for most people) it just doesn't make sense to check it it out.

I am from Germany and I enter the URL www.last.fm and not www.lastfm.de. Still the page (not the browser!) asks me "your browser speaks German - do you want to set German as your preferred language?" (in German btw.). I need to close this "banner" every time I open last.fm page.
And no - I don't want to set the page to German. That's the point of everyone asking here...

I made a bit of testing over here, with browser Chrome (Firefox is harder to switch to another language): switched my default language of Chrome to French (display language + spelling).
Than entered www.last.fm/music/kitaro (that is, no localized page).... and no notifications !

I manually edited URL to something like www.last.fm/fr/music/kitaro and .... I get that banner with suggestion to chose some language, but it was written in English (as if my default browser language was English, despite it being in French) ! But the wiki was really in French this time.
Hmmm...
But, after clicking on any other languages from the bottom of last.fm page, there's no banner any more.
Until I manually edit URL to change, lets say from /fr to /de ... and again the text is in English.
Pretty confusing....
But, still, I don't get any bombarding with those banners if I chose the language from those links at the bottom !
So, could you also make the same choice at your side ?
I suppose this will be needed again after you close your browser, and then open it again and come to last.fm page; but at least it will keep you without these banners on everything you access further.

P.S. There's no URLs as in the old site as www.lastfm.de .... now everything is like www.last.fm/de/music/kitaro or www.last.fm/pl/music/kitaro and similar to all other languages.

P.S.2 It's clearly something not finished well (not polished ?) with this option of last.fm site; I mean, if my browser language is French, why/how would the site think it is English ?
