The Library's old design

Hi
I'm sure this question has been answered before but I was wondering if you guys will ever bring back the library's old layout and albums view again, how we didn't need to be directed to second pages to be able to view artists and tracks in general.

I like to look at my library a lot (because I'm weird) and I just think this view looks....rather hideous

Compared to the library design where it looked more unique and neat

Obviously besides the tags view and A-Z library Issues. But then again I know I'm asking something that has been questioned many times so I understand if I don't get an answer.

Have a good day.

I think the new look is better imo and I wouldn't want it to go back. The new view I think is more clean.

I don't mind the new grid look but I wish we could see the full library as a grid... Or at least the option to switch from list to grid if you want to. The list form is so... boring

I agree so much, it's okay if they wanna keep the new look but we missed viewing our whole library in grid look as well! Not just the most played artists.

I also liked how you could easily navigate it with the left and right arrow keys, as well as a handy Jump To function.

The new looks seems cleaner because of all the white space, whereas the old version was more about the main images. My personal preference is for the old style so it would be nice if they created an ability to switch views as Marcus suggests...

Marcus, you are aware that if you could have all library displayed as a grid, you'll not have this current 50 artists per page layout, do you ?
If I remember correctly, in that old grid layout, we could have only 21 or 24 artists per page.
It's much easier to navigate through your library with this current list layout (and lets be frank: it even loads faster than if it were to be a grid design).
I even wish to be able to have 100 artists per page.
To compensate a little the "boring" effect, currently we have artist images (avatars) next to their names.

The devs also could develope a variable grid with 8, 16, 32 & 64, or 5, 10, 25 & 50 fields. Also a static grid view with 5x10 is an option.

I miss this feature from the old site too.  There's a ticket in our backlog to restore the old A-Z artist grid view in the library, however I'm not aware of any plans to work on this in the immediate future as there are other projects that have priority right now.  I've marked this as under consideration for now - when this moves forward, I'll let you know.

No, but a lot of people have been asking about this recently, so I'm going to raise it at the next product meeting.

It would be really cool if you could consider to bring back the grid view with bigger images in the library. (with the option to switch to a name list or genres/tags)

With the old design this was something I could get lost in for hours, going through libraries to search for new music...
I miss this a lot, do you think it will be an option in the future?

I like the old library design with the text below the artist photo, rather than overlaid on it. This would be even more desirable for the album grid, since album titles can often be quite long and cover most of the album cover when overlaid.

Really? That's a bit exaggerated, it only takes one line so how can it "cover most of the album cover".

Do these look like one line to you?

And do you think your solution is any better? It would just create a lot of whitespace underneath the album cover. In order to facilitate long album names like that you'd need several white space lines underneath the cover. And since long album names are (3+ lines) are not the rule most of the time people would have just empty white space underneath their covers in a grid view. A better idea would be to make font size independent of cover size (selectable size) in combination with a text length size limit. Your idea doesn't solve the problem, it just replaces it with something else.

What do you mean "a lot of whitespace"? 90%?

I am missing the A-Z in the library because I cannot see if I have played a particular song by an artist and friends cannot see if I have played a particular song before recommending it.

I miss having the library display both a grid and a list below with different default timeframes each :(

Seeing them together like that, the new design looks much better.
The only thing that needs to be fixed is the way artist/band names get cut off if they're over a certain length.
