The same song appears twice as two different entries in my library

Hi there,

I had this problem with a different song when the beta first launched, and I've spotted another one. It probably has something to do with some of my scrobbles in the past not including a '?' while others did, and before it would have just redirected but since the new site launch it has thrown up two separate entries despite both leading to the same song page if you click on them.

Hopefully the picture below will explain what I mean better, both exactly the same song titles, but appearing as two entries in the library ('Are You Still Having Fun?') - can this be fixed please?

I'm almost 100% certain this is the source of this situation on your library (I had a few similar ones myself).
You can try to check each of them with "noredirect" in the URL of the song's page.
Something like this:
http://www.last.fm/user/_/library/music/+noredirect/Eagle-Eye+Cherry/_/Are+You+Still+Having+Fu...
and see if this is the case for you -- I expect you'll see those scrobbles made with the song title without that "?" in it, thus they being auto-corrected.

Hi Tom,
There are a couple of different issues that could cause this; mis-matched corrections, or different album and track artists on your scrobbles. What was your Last.fm username again?

Cheers,
Laura

Thanks :)

I do think this has to do with a correction of the track name you've scrobbled, too; you can see that you actually have more scrobbles of this track here (some are on a different album): http://www.last.fm/user/eamezey2/libr...

As I said, there are several issues with corrections in the user library not always working as expected; we want to look at these, soon hopefully. I'll document your case, but there's no quick fix, I'm afraid.

Found another instance of this problem.

This track: http://www.last.fm/music/Owl+City/_/Dreams+Don%E2%80%99t+Turn+To+Dust

It features the 'wrong' kind of apostrophe: ’

But if I now scrobble the track (since the last.fm site change) with the correct apostrophe ' or the wrong one ’ - it automatically scrobbles as this track: http://www.last.fm/music/Owl+City/_/Dreams+Don%27t+Turn+to+Dust - technically two different tracks in the last.fm library, but however I scrobble it, it won't go in the previous versions stats that I had scrobbled initially (the wrong ’ )

Hope that makes sense, it's pretty tricky trying to explain it!

I mentioned the whole apostrophe issue that Last.FM suffers from here (genuinely a serious issue that needs to be sorted ASAP) https://getsatisfaction.com/lastfm/topics/the-wrong-apostrophe-issue-that-ruins-scrobbling-without-y...
