My scrobbles appear to be a few hours off. I think that my be a Time Zone problem. I can't find a place to change my time zone anywhere.

You're right, it's currently set to UTC for everyone. This is on our to-do list to fix as soon as possible.

It's been a month. Any news? Seems like something that would be easy to fix...

I gave up asking about it a while ago, which is probably what they hope, that people will just forget about it.  But it's really ridiculous.  "As soon as possible" 8 months ago.  Give me a break.

Really? You got many threads about this and almost a year ago too. To do list for 2020? Sorry, but saying one thing and doing another is not nice to people when getting support. Is this how support going to be now a days, and whats the point of support, when you get no where for months or years later?

Sorry guys, I'm as baffled and frustrated as you are that this isn't done yet.  When I wrote the above post, I was under the impression that this would be resolved relatively quickly.  Certainly not 8+ months. -_-  Clearly that isn't the case, and I'm trying to find out for you what's holding this up.

Yeah, that is pretty bad. Especially when it was in the other website before this one.

And we continue to wait and wait and wait and wait and wait, and still continue to wait. I don't see any time soon this happening. Acknowledged, does not mean getting done. Action speak louder than words, but the words are not getting any action done.

Yeah I have to admit, it's been annoying that my "Last.fm day" ends at 8pm (and for some as early as 5pm).  I've gotten used to it, but still, it's not right...

They keep doing other things besides this. I predict it is never going to happen at the rate they are going with adding every single thing of other stuff instead.

More than a week has gone by, and the time zones still haven't been fixed.  Any estimation on when this might be done?

Would be nice if someone from Last FM would address this.  Is it that hard to create an option to change the time zone, like on the old site?

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled When Are The Time Zones Gonna Be Fixed?.

It's been a week now, and the time zones are still wrong.  My profile says I was playing a song at 3am yesterday when it was really 9pm.  Someone posted about this last week, and were told this would be fixed.  When will this be done?  There needs to be options like on the old site where you can set the time zone to your particular region, which for me would be Eastern Time.

Am I SUPPOSED to not be able to scrobble in my own time zone? -_-
No option, as far as I can see, to change the time zone from whatever it is now... unless it's hiding right there in plain sight and I'm just a complete idiot.

Nope, just not getting added to the new website because to them it isn't important enough or we would see it by now.

Underestimating the complexity of timezones would indeed make for an ideal learning experience for an intern.  Just not working software at the end of the afternoon.  However, for those interested you can read about working with time zones here and the timezone database.

Anyway, I've been told that this ticket will be estimated next week, so it will hopefully move forward in the coming sprints.

What is funny, well not, but they say this week and then reply and say it is going to be longer. That just tells us that we will just have to have this be a miracle to actually get it from them. I got a website myself and I do not put stuff off like this. If I want it or someone that visits. I add it.

Maybe I need to change my site to do scrobbling and all that is here. I bet I could keep up a lot faster. I am just one person too.

This work is now in progress.  However, it's a 4-pointer, so it'll likely take more than one sprint to complete.  Thanks for your continued patience in the meantime. :)

No, I think it's unlikely, lennie.  It's still in development (a phase called code review, where another developer reads through what's been written, to catch mistakes and suggests improvements), and then it'll be passed to QA.  Given how many timezone bugs there were with old site, I expect laura will want to test it extensively before giving it the ok.  It's moving forward, but I think it has at least another 1-2 weeks left to go, which means it might be ready for the release after next.  Time will tell. ;)

If there's an update it would be this week; ultimately though, it's up to the development team.  At the end of each sprint there's an opportunity to deploy an update the following week, but not every sprint yields new features or public facing improvements (e.g. mod tools is something that's useful, but you won't see; laying down the foundations for bigger features is another example).

Unfortunately an issue was raised during qa, which requires additional development from the datateam.  This is now on hold until that work is picked up.

This seems like a simple code block.

if user in <timezone>
then
add X hrs to location

frustrating and confusing to see my scrobbles at like 4am when I knew I was sleeping.

They actually implemented this "feature" awhile ago, but it created a library bug so most of us have rolled back to UTC. If you don't care about years displaying correctly in your library, you can set your time zone under your profile settings->website->time zone drop-down.

I don't have an exact ETA at this time, but the fix is in qa and being tested, and the team are now working on a follow-up ticket to add daylight savings support.

I'm closing this conversation because basic timezone support was implemented before Christmas as part of the Last.year work.  A follow-up thread for discussing the bug where your library doesn't display non-UTC timezones correctly can be found here: https://getsatisfaction.com/lastfm/topics/library-years-off
