Hi everyone. I have a problem with scrobbling with my itunes. All my listened tracks in scrobbles box are labeled with "cashed". I don't have any problems with Spotify, but I can not scrobble with my itunes. What's the problem? Why the cashed label still on?

Same here at the moment; Spotify and MusicBee are scrobbling just fine, but anything from iTunes is in cache purgatory.

I'm having the same problem. Was really hoping to wake up this morning and find everything sorted out, stupid me. I think there's something wrong with their submissions server at the moment, literally all mine are doing the same, and who knows how many other people. Only thing I'm worried about is if I cache too many, will I lose the older ones?

That is my concern.  I saw the status and that "submissions are critical".  But its a webpage from the old site so I didn't know if it was true.  But its somewhat comforting that others are going through this.  I wish they would fix the fundamentals of scrobbling before anything else. I don't want to lose older cached scrobbles.

I dunno if I should be glad that I'm not the only one with this problem. It started when last.fm updated their webside. Maybe scrobbling feature is being put off for a while because of the big update? I hope everything gets solved and the site will work fine soon.

Well if you go to http://status.last.fm/ it says with a red cross that submissions are critical, I'm not sure if this is just for me or not. I assume it has something to do with the scrobbling but I'm not 100%

yes, I have the same problem - some few tracks from iTunes are scrobbled, the next ones are just "cached", and the same problem with synchronized iPod... it says, that last.fm scrobbler found my played tracks on my iPod, but they are not in my scrobbles... I hope it is just temporary problem and it ́s related with new web.

It worked fine Tuesday morning, but not since.  77 cached scrobbles and counting.

I had this problem a couple weeks ago and I lost a ton of scrobbles! I'm having the problem again and I hope I don't lose anything. Spotify also only sometimes scrobbles.

I have since given up. I'm not scrobbling; just letting iTunes count plays in hopes that I can eventually make a new account on Last.fm (if this disaster ever blows over) and import them. This is absurd.

Same problem here. When I start playing music from my iTunes it says that particular track is playing as it would normally but then disappears completely afterwards. All my scrobbles from my ipod aren't being transferred to my profile either, it just says they've been cached which is annoying. I never had a problem scrobbling from my itunes before this awful disaster of an update apart from that issue of the 2015 releases going missing a few days ago which I understand lots of other users experienced anyway. Regardless of how awful the new version is it's the fact they've decided to release it now when it's quite clearly not finished or ready that gets me the most. I mean all this talk of features being updated over the coming months!!! do they honestly think people are going to be hanging around waiting for this mess to be fixed? I don't think so. I hope last.fm manage to sort this mess out soon because it would be a real shame to lose what was once such a great music site.

The Scrobbler client has needed an update for a long time, the last one was years ago. I'm looking at the Last.fm site now and can't find any links or information about downloading the Scrobbler.

Fingers crossed, the Last.fm team is working on a new Scrobbler client to go along with their new website, and it'll be here soon.  If I lose all of these cached tracks, I don't care, as long as an actual working solution is on the way.

For now will listen mainly to Spotify. I hope this is just a rough transition and Last.fm will become usable again. If not, oh well.  It could be good for me anyway to just listen to music and not think anymore about what are the numbers.

Update:  about 40 of my 180 cached scrobbles just went through.  I think the rest are lost, but this is still an improvement over it staying stuck forever.

I am having the same issue, so I logged into my spotify account that I created ages ago and never used. In the meantime, at the very least, I figured out how to link my last.fm profile to it and also to import my library to spotify and it appears to be scrobbling fine for moment. The library is slowly importing, but it'll do for now until the iTunes issue is resolved. A bit of a hassle but at least I know the plays are being documented.

I'm having the same problems with iTunes scobbler ever since I updated iTunes. I'm having to use Windows media player to sync my music, that doesn't help when I want to sync any of my apple devices, I hope this gets fixed asap.. arghhhhh

Hi everyone,

Sorry to hear you're having problems with this.

We're aware of an issue with desktop client that's causing tracks to get stuck in cache instead of scrobbling, and I'd expect this to affect wmp, winamp, and foobar, as well itunes.

If you're affected by the issue, you'll see the following error in scrobbler log file (information to find this is here).
Invalid Method - No method with that name in this package
Our team are looking into this for you -- sorry for the inconvenience in the meantime.

I'm not getting that error message in the log file, but I am having other scrobbler issues, as detailed here" https://getsatisfaction.com/lastfm/topics/scrobbler-multiple-problems-not-previously-reported

Jon, we have had this issue for 4 days. About time it was fixed and as we head to another weekend I doubt it will even be looked at until Monday by then we would have had the issue for 6 days.

This is a very basic site function for it to still be down after over 4 days.

Yes, well, they did seem to ignore an issue with iTunes not scrobbling at all for months on end, so....

6 days of this sh*t. I know its the weekend and I imagine all staff are off but they should have sorted this problem on Friday before the weekend.  CBS has completely killed this site, wouldn't be surprised if half the last.fm staff have been axed since they took charge to save money. This site seems to have nothing but problems that never get fixed but I truly believe this is the longest that songs have been unscrobbled/stuck in cache.

Bumping, though more out of frustration than anything else.

I'd like to re-create my account already, but there's no point if I can't scrobble. :(

The Last.fm Scrobbler hasn't been able to scrobble—you know, it's main purpose—since last Tuesday. Your basic service has been out of commission for about a week!

But it hasn't. I'm sorry that people are having problems but the Scrobbler works fine for lots of people, including me. My experience is the reverse of yours. I had many problems prior to site update but no problems now. "Bully for You", you might say but I'm not being smug. There really has to be a reason why it works for some( All of my active friends/followers) and not others. Have you recently updated to Windows 10? Have you checked your Firewall settings? Do you have an Ad Blocker? Do you have the new version of the scrobbler? And have you updated iTunes? The Ad Blocker question is definitely worth looking at, I'd say, because I know now of three users who solved their problems by disabling theirs. Maybe won't work for you but I hope you and other frustrated users find some solution soon.

I can't tell whether you're suggesting he should or shouldn't have updated Windows and iTunes, but it does come across as smug to say, in effect, "sucks to be you."  It's great you and all your friends aren't having problems, but the majority of people posting not only are having problems, but can't get the most basic function of the site to work at all any more.  That's sort of a big deal, and not something they should have to debate ad nauseam.

George Tait, I don't have ad blocker, not changed firewall settings and I upgraded to Windows 10 5 weeks ago. I am using the latest version of scrobbler and the latest version of iTunes and all was working fine until CBS changed this site 7 or 8 days ago. Lucky you that things are working for you. However it is a real problem for lots of us. If you read the top of this post Last.fm staff member Jon said there was an issue so don't make out its our fault (the users) when the issue is with last.fm.

You can't tell? Of course you can't. Nothing to tell. I was just trying to be helpful. Fact is, that lots of users aren't experiencing any problems whatsoever with scrobbling. It's pretty fucking obvious then to say that there must be reasons why they are having no problems whilst others are. Maybe instead of suggesting that I'm smug you should be pondering on that conundrum. Because I'd say that one of the most obvious ways forward is for people who aren't having problems to communicate with people who are. Which is what I was doing. If that's a problem for you and if that's all a bit smug for your liking, then you have another problem to contend with, don't you?
