Dear lastfm staff, I understand that you're trying to better your site from what you used to have, but when it comes to followers I know that this is just me, but there are certain followers that I do not want to follow me for personal and safety reasons. I do not care who views my profile. I am sure that I am not the only one who feels this way. Also, if you plan on being like twitter and tumblr, they at least give us the ability to block people and change our names to prevent such things as I stated above. Again, I do not care if they view my profile I just do not want them to follow me, message me or have me on their list. Having them following me doesn't do a thing for me because I couldn't careless about what bands I have in common with them or whatever else they think. I just want to enjoy this site with only certain people I care about who I follow and so on. Please take this into consideration for the safety reasons. The blocking only prevents them from following me and messaging me, I do not care if they view my profile.

Hi Gato,

We care about your privacy on the site, but as with all feature requests, we need understand exactly what you're requesting and why.

Earlier you said:

"for personal and safety reasons."
"to prevent such things as I stated above."

Not to be obtuse, but what reasons?  Which things?  If you can clarify the privacy and safety concerns you have with allowing other last.fm users to follow you on the site, I can make a stronger case for getting the work prioritised.

For example, here's a privacy concern we can act on:

"Please make it so that only people I approve can see my event attendance.  I don't want strangers knowing when I'm going out and where."

That's a reasonable request which addresses a specific privacy concern: a stranger could look up your event list on Last.fm and try to approach you after a gig.

Removing followers has now gone live.  To remove an unwanted follower simply add them to your ignore list.  If they're already on your ignore list, remove them and then add them again.
