Howdy,

Here's some of the interesting bits from Sprint 170's release notes:

Features
  • User event history
  • Delete private messages

Bugfixes
  • Fixed issue where unsuccessful password reset message was incorrectly shown
  • New password strength fixes
  • Fix unresponsive page due to misbehaving ad
  • Fix long pause between Spotify tracks
  • Fixed problem with invalid XML responses in the API

This sprint we're continuing work on event creation, playback provider settings, suggesting videos, 6 month chart ranges and some other stuff.

Cheers,
James

Problems with events:

- Only 10 events per page requires browsing through a lot of pages
- Artists are now listed in a random order - not necessarily the headliner or most scrobbled
- No shoutbox
- No flyers/images
- No list of users who went
- No list of friends/followers who went

So yeah, you brought event history back but you didnt really bring it back...

It's very important to see the list of users attending the events. That's also an must feature still missing.

it's really, really hard to interact on last.fm right now, unless you know a friend's username and can visit their page directly. the site is a lonely graveyard from a social standpoint other than lamenting the site.

user search, friends listening now, groups, neighbors are all missing. does last.fm actually expect people to interact on the site? How? There's so little sense that the site has any living presence. These don't even seem like priorities in the ridiculous trickle of development. I wish someone at last.fm would give some intuition about ripping really all the community out of their online music community.

They don't care, I am sure cbs bought last.fm trying to make money from it.  It's not profitable, so now its being abandoned in the most nonsensical way possible.  I doubt it will be around in a year.  The beta release is imo cbs going through the motions to get every last dime they can out of the site before pulling the plug.   Not having neighbors kills the site for me.  Not having friend finder since beta started (march 15?) is pathetic.

No, whatever they're doing for sure they're not ready to pull the plug. Only a fool would invest more (all these changes cost...) in a product that he's planning to kill.

having one dev do nothing is hardly investment, I disagree, sounds like a wager if you ask me $$$$

Making a case for Various Artists. These weekly album charts look beyond strange:

#24 "The Music Of Nashville: Original Soundtrack Season 3, Volume 2" isn't even a link.

Is this problem listed among "some other stuff" you're working on at the moment?

Please bring back the album cover in the "recently played tracks" section. It really is kind of boring right now.

A few days ago I saw a button on a track page that said "Replace Video". Now it's gone. It must have been a sign that the developers are still working on that feature.

I wonder how will they call it then; "people I follow who listen to"? sounds awkward

"This sprint we're continuing work on event creation, playback provider settings, suggesting videos, 6 month chart ranges and some other stuff." Perfect. I was getting tired of opening Spotify every time I started a station.

I don't see a reason why would we give up "friends". It is only natural we have a group of people we interact more frequently with and it is really convenient to have a list of them, so we can communicate easily or check their new music discoveries efficiently. Followers might be a good addition though to people we don't know which we have an interest in their taste.

Staff said it was supposed to be yesterday. I can see why they prefer saying "in the future".
