Hello, hello.

We’ve just released Sprint 177, which includes the following:

  • Redesigned masthead, that moves the logo into the player bar and gives more focus to header images
  • Recent listening trend sparklines on artist, track and album pages
  • Full quality image when expanding artwork on album and track pages
  • Allow blocked users to unfollow their blocker
  • Fix average scrobble count in libraries for the current year
  • Add pagination to artist’s top tracks pages
In the background, work continues with the catalogue, at the moment we're building some tools that will allow you give feedback once it's released.

Cheers,
Team Last.fm

Great update! Thanks. Love that we can now have pagination to the tracks pages. As for unfollowing users,  will you be working on allowing us to unfollow users 1) that no longer use LFM but are still on our lists, 2) unfollow users that we don't want on our follower's lists?

1. I think is a bug that you reported the other day - that's on our list.   2. Making blocked users automatically unfollow you has been written as a follow-up ticket.

Okay, blocking still doesn't work, so please fix it soon. I hope more big improvements are on the way.

yepp I think I found our problem here I read about what our dear old Government did years ago made our colleges to let kids go to college that don't have the IQ to go to college get this so they can get a better job no wonder our technology gone down hill in America and shows how much our government care about our technology here as well

Another solid update.

However, can I ask when you're hoping to reintroduce the ability to remove an artist, track, or album in a single operation? At present, the only way to do this is be deleting every related scrobble individually. More over, if scrobbles have been imported from our music libraries, like iTunes, it is actually impossible to remove them - which is very frustrating.

Is this likely to be implemented soon, or is it just somewhere down the long list of things to do?

Thanks!

Seems like a step forward however, for me the search feature is now dead. Anyone else?

Yep, sure did. Also tried another browser, from an artist page, phone, etc. Usually not one to complain but 'search' is the feature I use the most (boohoo). Thanks Sharon. No life jacket but I've got a coupe of floaters ;)

If the issue persists, can you please clarify what exactly you mean by "dead"? What happens when you try to search for something -- an error message, bad results, nothing at all?  Does the url change http://www.last.fm/search?q= or do you remain on the page you were searching from?  Also, can you please tell us which browser you're using? Thanks.

Sure Jon. I get nothing. No url in the progress bar. Used to have a faint progress wheel spinning to the right (next to "Live") but that's gone. FireFox 41.0.2 is my primary but also dead on G Chrome (not sure the version but it's set to update automatically). Thank you for attention.

When you type your search query in the bit where it says 'Search for music', and press return... nothing happens - is that correct?

For example:

Yessir that's right. Also inspected the elements for anomalies, cleared browser caches, and flushed dns. Several times. Deader than a door nail. The good news is; today it's working as normal. In fact it seems a few seconds faster returning results then it's been in 5+ years. Pretty happy about it as, like mentioned, it's the most used here. Cheers!

Finally I can recognise those guys in my profile header, now please make them coloured... ;-) Or even let me choose directly who will be shown there, not by manipulating my current top track accordingly.

As far as I can tell, the pictures taken for the header are randomly chosen and not the artist image with the most votes, so it would be hard to find out which one I would have to vote up and/or down to fix the header of my personal profile.

Maybe it should not be attached to the shown current top track at all, but a personal banner image which we could upload in our website settings. All other sites using banner format pics allow this (Facebook, YouTube etc.) and give advice what the best dimensions should be.

The header backgound should be the top landscape image.

The header backgound should be the top landscape image.
Then I wonder how this one was chosen 4 days ago for Kate Bush, as it is only #22 in her gallery:

http://www.last.fm/music/Kate+Bush/+images/1de058fa73e74248c2a4b021aade22e7

It also is square, so not exactly landscape, maybe those ones should better be treated as portrait?

At the moment another square one is chosen as header:

Yes, another square one resulting in a nice forehead image like I mentioned in my edit, so squares are evil, don't use them, only real landscapes.

I'm looking at the artist, track and album pages and I honestly don't understand what "Recent listening trend sparklines on" means because I see no difference... :/
Can someone explain this to me?

Not exactly.  We've reverted it back while we investigate further.

I cannot understand the "Recent Listening Trend" line either. For example I cannot relate the trend line shown this page to either my listening trend, nor to the community Days, Weeks or Months trend lines shown on the same page.

The mouse tool tip when hovering should be more descriptive.

Thomas Hooper: "It shows global scrobbles over the last 6 months"

Thanks for the response. The new trend line seems to display false information. Take this example of Split Enz. Their new trend line shows a raising, although your main trend line shows it flat or even falling over the six month period.

The top listeners in 7 days was one of my personal favourite features.  I found a lot of my Lastfm friends that way. Now, in order to find people like that, you have to refresh the artist page and basically pick someone "listening now" at random, which is as effective as a name out of a hat...

I did save some of them though and they were so nice on your profile!

I just thought of another issue that should be fixed ASAP, because it's a pain in the ass. If I go to an artist page - that which I have only heard a few songs by, too long ago to remember - it will show how many times I have listened to them but will not provide me with a link to access their pane in my library to SEE which songs by them I have heard.  Instead, I have to go back to my page, to my library and type their name in the web address.
When we go to users' pages and they listen to common artists, those common artists in the header are links that navigate to their listening habits for that artist. This is why I can't understand why a link cannot be implemented on an artist page for our personal listens...

Your scrobble count on the artist page is a link to that artist in your library, is it not working?

Two things I am waiting for...

Any word if and when we are getting the Weekly Artist charts back?

Any word when autocorrection will finally be back....with hopefully a better system than it was.

Eh, that's not what I expected - good things are two last ones on the list, but new "header" is just.. unnecessary. The rest is nothing what gives thought about solid update - it's just like filler for more important things. So, imo this update is.. 5/10.

Things which I think will be more important are:
(from most important to least important)
-BBC code + things with "about me" section
-Events creation and organisation (improved)
-Search engine for tags, more albums/artists/tracks

Of course it's just three things which first come to my mind in this moment, but at least first two are very important for many of us. (last.fm users) Personally I can say about "friends" instead of followers, but it's quite obvious. And not that important.

So.. thank you for this one and gl with next updates, I'm still with you, Last.fm!

Yeah, I understood your post quite good, jdawg70. Your thinking is right and I'm also wondering what they want to do with Last.fm in next patchs. I referred my post to Elliot Robinson comment, just because he marginalised problem with "about me" section.

But, anyway, your post is very accurate, I can say amen to that, like guy above.

FYI (Dawg70, Tom S. etc.)  http://thenextweb.com/apps/2015/06/05/last-fm-tries-for-a-new-groove-with-a-complete-site-overhaul/#...

‘According to Nick Calafato, music partnership rustler at the service, the site is “busy totally re-platforming and re-designing Last.fm from top to bottom (5 Jun '15).”’

That is the plan? Communication is so cloak-and-dagger here it creates' a plethora of possibilities (whys).

I think we're all in agreement that clearer communication about Last FM's intentions is desired by users.

@Tom Stephens, I wasn't suggesting your post was speaking for everyone, I was merely saying that aesthetic personalisations for profile pages shouldn't really be of high importance to the developers. I'm not saying people shouldn't be requesting it and that it shouldn't return, neither am I saying it shouldn't be deemed important to them, but in reality it shouldn't be one of the primary things for Last FM to be focussing on in the short term. Wouldn't you agree it's more important for them to fix the site's functionality before its aesthetic? Sorry if you felt I was "marginalising" you.

Again, this could all be cleared up if Last FM gave us a clearer indication of their plan of action.

yes, it does look like appearence wins over substance all the time here. I wonder who prioritises tasks to be accomplished. I'll keep on hammering about restoring events and journals with all the functionalities that go along. Then goups and playlist, in that order. Thanks
