Auto update recent tracks? Care to elaborate on what that actually means? Thanks.

Hey Jim, it means the tracks you're scrobbling will auto-update the Recent Tracks section on your user profile without you having to refresh the page.

Cheers jrs1991 ad Nick. Interesting idea. Do the Top Artists and Top Albums automatically update or is this solely just for the recent tracks? Cheers for the info guys.

going to take some time to break the habit of refreshing my page to update the recently played tracks....but loving the fact I don't have to do it now.

I love it too. In the future it would also be cool if things like Scrobble counts updated as well. But I'll take this for now.

When do we get to see *who* is actually attending events, instead of just a number?

Same, the whole 'attending' event feature is essentially pointless when you can't even see who's going to the same show as you. Sure, it's still nice to have it on your profile for your friends, I mean 'followers' to see, but it still feels like an empty hole that needs to be filled without this feature.

The date range thing for events seems useful, but I don't get what the rest means? I wouldn't say the 'show message' thing for unavailable tracks is pointless, but is that something we really needed? Especially now? Auto update recent tracks? What?

There's more important things that are actually CRUCIAL, things we've been screaming for the past 8 months. Like the dreaded about me section (all you have to do is get rid of the limit on it which should take 2 seconds, don't know what else there is to improve on), or maybe adding back the feature for auto correcting tracks. There's a lot of tracks I've scrobbled in the past months that were mis-titled and I would love to at least submit something for them to be corrected, but I can't, because you guys won't add it back. I could go on but then I'll just be listing the cliche demands.

I know there's other things you guys said you wanted to focus more on, like catalogues, but if we specially don't state the things we want, why do you spend time on them anyways, especially when we only get 1 maybe 2 updates per month? Are you guys trying to troll us or something? If so you're doing a good job at it.

I'm starting to think this whole beta process is just for one big episode of Punk'd.

Exactly. LOTS of important features were taken away from us, they should be the priority now. Playcount resetting, artist deletting, forums, groups.

Just want to make it clear that I don't think this update is necessarily bad, I find 2 out of these 3 features useful in their respective ways. Unavailable track thing might be useful but I don't know if that's something that'll be of use to me or not since I don't understand it too well. It's just there's OTHER things that should be top priority, not stuff like this.

This is better than the previous update, at least.

There IS something that's already taking top priority - the catalogue work. It's massive. Hence the reason the Last.fm team have been working on it for several weeks/ months now. This update is just a tiny, tiny little addition.

I'm aware, but if they can work on these other side things, I'm sure they can work on the features we want too.

"Hence the reason the Last.fm team have been working on it for several weeks/ months now"

I wonder what the reason was for *not* working on it back in April 2015. Like, while they still had a functional site working in parallel. In stark contrast to what I assume was the development plan: break all the shit, trash the previously working thingie, slowly attempt to get back to feature parity with *the thing you already had on the market*, and, in the middle of *that* beta, do a MASSIVE DATA OVERHAUL.

Sorry. But this shit is pretty damn ridiculous at this point. The totality of Last.fm staff just seem so damn *oblivious* to *just how sad this beta rollout is going*. It's really frustrating to watch; like, watching someone on Youtube trying to change their tire with dental floss. You desperately want them to stop screwing up so badly, but ultimately, you can't do a damn thing to help them. All one can do is watch in horror, with a small side dish of hilarity at the sheer absurdity of this product/service development effort.

Really, Last.fm, absurd is a very appropriate word. THIS IS ABSURD.

This is pointless.  What we wanted back were the groups and forums and instead you provide us with this load of nonsense.  Thanks for nothing as ever.

Yes! And where is the option to reset our playcounts? Or delete artists from our library? We already had these features in the old website. Why getting rid of them????

Ah, I was wondering why the site was a bit slow today.

"Auto update recent tracks" - great! This is one of those small but useful features I've really missed. Now I can uninstall my auto-refresh browser extension. How close to completion is the catalogue work?

Can you give an update on the status of the catalog changes? I was hoping for at least some information on how close you're getting. Thanks!

It's in QA and making steady progress though there's still some pretty glaring issues that need to get ironed out before we can (finally) roll this out to subscribers.  The most visible improvement is that new releases and complete tracklists are now automatically populated.  Speaking personally, it's really encouraging to see albums that were released last Friday are already in the new catalogue with complete tracklistings, release dates, track lengths, etc.

Sounds good, Jon. Thanks for the update. I think I speak for most here in asking for the occasional update on this, even if it's bad news like a setback. We're eagerly anticipating this feature.

Thanks again!

I'm very interested in this feature Auto update recent tracks very much, I'll check this out.

selecting a date range on events is more effective if I could also select a venue or a city, better still if I could select my favourite 3 venues or 3 favourite cities for events and have them show me the events for the coming 8 days (today plus a week) or 14 days (so i see what's on for the next 2 weekends).

Show message, and log to server, when tracks are unavailable: what does the log to server bit do?

We've seen some performance issues with the auto-refreshing of recent tracks so we've rolled that back for the time being.

Sorry about this. We'll have an update soon.

Staff said they were going to be working on the auto-refreshing of recent tracks today, maybe that's what's causing the on & off again of the slowness? as it did yesterday.....

This took three weeks? And the only substantial part of this update isn't even enabled because it has "performance problems", even though the old last.fm already had this feature and it worked perfectly?

/sigh

I'm sorry for being negative, I've been on this site for probably about 6 years now (old accounts), and I want you guys to succeed but you've got to give us something to work with here :(

About neighbors/friends - do u plan to extend the functionality, such as analyst a particular person compared to his musical tastes and my? i mean, not only  -  Your compatibility with Addar: very high.
Both of you are listening to 22-20s, Bonobo and M83.
And  when you change the library of artists with their ugly microscopic photos? Back like second variant the old one!!! With big pictures!
According about me (right part) when appear the ability to add pictures, gif and so on, as it was before?
When add an icon of scrobbler (foobar, vox etc) - with what program scrobbling happens now? before, the icon was above the list singer / song - Last Song

So basically, the only slightly interesting feature of the release is not working and has been removed. Oh dear. Btw, i already had the auto-refresh page option in the old last.fm and it worked fine.

Old Last.fm? You mean that site/service that had a bunch of features that you liked and appreciated that Last.fm got rid of because...fuck if I know. Maybe every person in management ate a lot of paint chips?

I dunno. But this beta rollout is one of the most laughable "upgrades" I have ever witnessed.

Seriously, Last.fm developers - make sure you leave this pitiful atrocity off of your resume. Trust me - putting down 'homeless' as your occupation will reflect far better on you than having to show a potential employer this pathetic excuse of 'product rollout'.

Honestly, someone really ought to be very ashamed about all of this.

Poor me waiting over 7 Months to be able to delete import scrobbles... This update was late and of course we got basically nothing.

The auto-updating doesn't even work. I'm so pissed and tired.

How am I?

Still upset with this travesty of a 'beta' rollout, coupled with what I still feel is insufficient information from Last.fm regarding what the actual goals are for this product/service.
