Hi everyone,

We've just released a new update.

Venue creation

You can now create new venues when adding or editing events. It's a fairly simple process...

When searching for venues you'll be given the chance to add a new one

Simply fill in the various venue details

Then make sure the map pin is in the correct location. Setting the map correctly helps with our event recommendations.

We hope you find this useful.

Cheers,
Team Last.fm

Thank you for providing me with my most sought after update! I will start using this immediately to add venues that have opened since the ability was taken away.

Thanks a lot. This is a very useful feature. Now, will you let us see/edit the venue pages? How can I update incorrect info on previously created venues?

just had a closer look at this. is there a way to edit existing entries? I have found several duplicates or venues with wrong addresses / incomplete information. Is there a way to change that?

You can't edit the details of existing venues at this time, but you could edit the event and change the venue to a more up-to-date / complete one (I would only do this for upcoming events, mind).

this sucks, for the several venues that changed their address in these years. we can "move" some events from the old to the new one (in fact, a duplicate), but in the future (hope soon) you should permit to edit and *merge* these venues, so each venue with an important gig history can have all his gig history listed on a page!

Agreed, editing venues would be a good next step.

Not just editing new venues, but also deleting duplicates... some folks are to lazy and add a new venue when they themselves use incorrect or incomplete names of venues.

there should be an option to flag a venue for deletion or for editing or a duplication.

or flag the most correct / complete venue entry in the database.

is there a plan to bring back in a little time the venue page, with all its past and future gigs?

Unrelated to the update, but why Zayn hasn't been capitalized as ZAYN yet?

Because his name is Zayn.

Yet his official Twitter uses all lower case, "zayn" https://twitter.com/zaynmalik
...his offical Facebook has it as "Zayn" https://www.facebook.com/zayn
...and his Instagram says "Zayn Malik" https://www.instagram.com/zayn/

I'd argue when an artist is inconsistent then just stick with standard English grammar rules, i.e. Zayn.

Why doesn't the site have an option to delete an artist / album / song with a single click? Why do we have to delete one by one? Seriously, people. I have no desire to organize my library or to use the website in this way. Why is it taking so long to implement this option?

OMG, finally! This is such great news.

Would it be fair to assume that this will also mean we can FINALLY delete scrobbles with unknown scrobble dates?

I hope so because there are bands I no longer listen to on my playlist. It's just too bad you shit the bed with the neighbours section though. The neighbours section is just horrible and I get the worst recommendations the way it is set up now. I miss the old way.

I've just been trying to do that very thing with no success. I tried on Safari and then on Chrome, and both times I inputted all the info and clicked on "Create Venue" and nothing happens. The only other thing to say is that the map doesn't come up either, which might have something to do with it? How can I make this work? Thanks in anticipation

Sounds like you might be using an ad-blocker or a similar browser extension.  These can prevent the site's javascript libraries from loading correctly, which prevents features like venue creation and image uploading from working correctly.  If you're having issues with venue creation, please try disabling your ad-blocker, hard refresh the page (ctrl+f5), and try again.

It's not working tried about 10 times now - is this just a temporary fault, or something more long term?

Do you have an adblocker on? It might be preventing some of the new JavaScript from loading

Tried it without adblocker and still no joy. I'm not getting the map on either Safari or Chrome, could that be something to do with it?

Do you have more than one ad, tracking, or script blockers installed? e.g. Are you using Disconnect, noscript, or Ghostery or something similar in addition to a regular adblocker?  At this point I would turn off all browser extensions, reload the page, and see if this makes a difference (if it does, it means that the issue is one of your extensions).

>>>I'm on a Mac so the F5 thing doesn't apply

Please refer to this page for platform / browser specific instructions on how to hard refresh a page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Bypass_your_cache

There's a mistake in polish translation:

In highlighted part, there should be "Nie, chcę utworzyć nowe miejsce" instead of "utworzy".

another events-related issue (since you're on events these weeks), which I think is important for the summer: festival lineup is a mess now, since the artists are in alphabetical order and not in number-of-listeners/scrobbles order.

here's an example. (btw, if you neglect events section for years, this is the result, less than 100 attenders for Glastonbury!! you will need to improve events very well and then advertise them / call people to use them back...)
