Ugh, that Listening History looks so out of place.

And weren't you supposed to reintroduce a grid-like library?

Well, I'd say it is definitely less out of place than before! Also, the number of scrobbles is now displayed on that graph upon hover, thus sorting out another of the library-related irritations.

What was changed?

I stopped following people because I never started; this is a mobile update as is a mobile template, that white space is a big as it was on a Laptop PC or Desktop.

Really; I want this to work, just a suggestion ------ focus on one task at time like album covers that appear out of focus, a bug that will not allow the user to reduce the size to make a sharper image (creating nodes with the desired url? for what); load the art to your images then load to page -if it loads to your personal library without a problem, then it is  likely 'saying' you don't own, but can use it.

The library is about as unfriendly as petting a starved Pit Bull; you guys cannot seem to multi-task so fix one thing at time -Art

LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE HERE THAT CAN HELP YOU -e.g. -  application program interfaces and so on.

This -

Are you asking for *more* whitespace?!  hehehe.

Seriously though, the listening history block sits flush at the top on every tab, probably because it's in a separate container so it can drop below on smaller screens (shrink your browser to see what I mean). Plus tbf, you've screenshot the worst looking tab about the 10+ possible choices.  For a bit of context, this looks nowhere near as bad as your example:

In fact, it's only a few pixels off being pretty much the same.  The only difference is on the artist library view there's a bit of extra data at the top, so the graph drops down a bit lower.

If you would like to create your Top Artists/Albums/Tracks 2015 with the custom date range, try this link:

http://www.last.fm/user/_/library?from=2015-01-01&to=2015-12-31

This is showing all your scrobbles 2015, for your personal Top charts simply click on the related links at the top. This also works for weekly charts of course, just check the available calendar settings. When you hover the bar graphs, a popup will show the related scrobbles per bar as well.

Because I wanted to check ye olde "underscore for username" substitute in this forum. Furthermore I also mentioned the new calendar options below the link.

Last but not least 2015 seems to be the year where I scrobbled the most tracks since creating my account years ago - thanks to Spotify's free offer, I guess.

Hi Pbad, Official Rep - how's it going?

Say...does any official rep, like yourself, have any comments regarding the API by any chance?

You may not have noticed, because certainly nobody at all has asked for any sort of clarity or any other kinds of comments regarding the API, but people are wondering what's up with it.  At least that's the sensation I get.  Call it a spidey-sense, because, certainly, no one has been asking about it for the past 4 months or so.  Nope, no one has been at all curious as to what Last.fm has intended to do with regards to the API.

But - pretending for a moment that anyone has wondered what's up with the API - what do you think the answer is to the question "is the API going to fixed, changed, or eliminated in the future?"

You know - pretending for a moment anyone has posted on this site asking for any clarification on that one.  'cause no one has asked about that in the last 4 months or anything.  But let's just play make-believe for a short bit and imagine that there have been some people wondering what's going on with the API.  Let's pretend that there are developers out there who had used the API for years and kinda depend on that API for their projects.  Let's pretend that those developers have reported things in a thread asking for developers to report things.  Let's pretend for a moment that those people feel disenfranchised at the sheer lack of acknowledgement of their damn existence.  Let's play pretend and imagine what an acknowledgement of those certainly-imaginary-and-not-real-people-who-have-posted-on-Get-Satsifaction people would read like.

I think some people here do not  understand what (jdawg70) is expressing above – fairly simple - No Communication and lack of qualified people to answer questions, even secrecy.

I have read complaint after complaint about API issues for months; perhaps too much individualism and inductive reasoning skills – thinking in straight lines?

What are we in an Orwellian novel? Honestly I think many of you are afraid.

People tend to support what has been drilled into their thick skulls as popular and not important, this not my opinion, it is basic textbook industrial psychology in a MBA university program. Are you afraid to make change within change? Look to Kloner (abrasive maybe), he is right where he left off. If you don’t think the polemic does not make change occur think again.

The worse that can happen is you tried to make this site work for the better.

I apologize to the writer if my interpretation is wrong or appear to be ‘speaking’ for your thoughts. ~Collectivism

So, well I have a front page complaint; this track has been playing over again for about 140 days, strangely sounding different. However, if you open it in another tab to search artist, well they are called PNG or full name Portable Network Graphics;

http://img2-ak.lst.fm/i/u/64s/c6f59c1e5e7240a4c0d427abd71f3dbb.png

You think if no one can upload the artist PNG color covers then?

Please look under “View Previous,” there is edifice after edifice of important information swept under the carpet in these forums.

No way to browse the library alphabetically, and ability to jump to specific letters directly, so still pretty much useless.

Right? Why do people keep saying "omg thanks so much guys!" for insignificant and useless updates? Give us our libraries the way they used to be and then we'll have something to be grateful for.

I like that the listening history bars show the exact numbers when you hover over them. I always find it interesting to look at how much I was listening at a certain time, but especially once it got into the thousands it was difficult to estimate with only the bars, so this is great.

And still no update for the Artist page that would make one able to see the Weekly top tracks of an artist instead of the All Time Best.

Sigh.

This update for the library is an improvement, for sure, so thanks. I'm very happy to see the listening history bar chart is far less prominent and the amount of wasted space has been reduced, but I still feel the old style library layout was fine as it was.

The library's top tier, which listed our artists with a nice (large!) photo grid was aesthetically pleasing, and the left/right browsing (combined with the Jump To... option) was easy to use and didn't require endless scrolling down to browse.

Similarly, the artist sub-tier with the assorted albums listed in a photo grid also worked better. I can understand the need to update the site and its underlying coding etc, but I think many users feel that the old library was perfect as it was. Sometimes change is a step backwards, which I personally feel was the case with the new library redesign.

I think part of the reason that the wasted space is so noticeable to users, even now, is that the images in the new library are so tiny (certainly when accessing the site on a desktop rather than mobile, which I don't really do - perhaps it resizes better on the mobile version of the site...). Having the pictures so small just looks really mean, from an aesthetic point of view.

Might be a problem with the apostrophe in "Eden's", although it looks correct in the screenshot and also in the track page URL:

I think the problem is that the artwork that is shown is not for the album that the song is being listened on, but is for the album that the song is on last.fm and has most plays.

The albums that don't show cover art contain no tracks on the album page in last.fm. It is definitely a last.fm issue.

Absolutly! Foxy Brown said it all. Actually, the cover displayed is taken from the song page and not the album page. Sometimes, there's no cover associated with the track even if there is a cover with the actual album => no cover displayed in recent tracks. And sometimes, the cover in the song page is taken from another album (live album, compilation, single,...) => wrong cover in recent tracks.

A good start, but still a long way to go. Having only 50 results per page is my main gripe - it's simply not enough. It wouldn't be as much of an issue if there was a way to search for specific artists in the library.

Anyway, good stuff. Thanks for another update.

Talking of ads on mobile - I still find it really strange that I can't even log in on mobile with adblocker running - no error or anything, it just doesn't work. Is that by design?

The new 'library' design is definitely an improvement compared to the former "ocean of white" design.  But I still wouldn't call it a library, rather an extended chart, because we can't arrange it alphabetically or search by letter:  idea for the next library update.

Good to see the BBCode's return at the artists overview page, since I already found it weird that the site had it on the bio page, but not in the overview...

Oh, I was hoping that it'd return to the grid version (or give us the option to switch between list and grid, like you did with the profile page) :( Please tell me you're considering doing this, it was for me, an essential part of the site.

How about you make everything even smaller? Oh yes please, because the last version wasn't messed uo enough!
It looks okay with recent scrobbles, but the artist library? Please... Also the charts... will the next update make them 'rise' from up to down? Or maybe it'll be like a mirror, from right to left? Or maybe you delete them completely, as it is the only good thing that all those updates had brought?

I really prefer this library layout. I like the icons with the text now, the total counts at the top, and the listening history is much better on the side, since it moves the charts to the top of the frame.

One small suggestion would be on the artist library view, to move the scrobbles line onto the same line as the artist, reducing this block of whitespace a little:

The library is surely improved after this sprint, I'm glad about all the bugfixes etc., and I'm aware there are other parts of the old site which still need to get back or become usable (the now ridiculous MUSIC SEARCH bar with only 5 results, neighbours, following/followers, etc).

... but I come back to the Events. just to report that my Events section still apear as above, and probably not only mine.
It's a good thing that event creation is back, but the Events Section is going to ONLY work as an individual agenda ( = you add the events you're interested and will be in most cases the only attender)....until you restore:

- the possibility to ADD YOUR CURRENT POSITION (or the position where you want to search events) and obviously the date-filter.

- the VENUE LASTFM PAGES. at the moment you can find an event only if you see it in an user's page, or in the artist's page. NOT in the event search page, NOT in the page of the event's venue!

- the Venue Editing feature

- the New Venue Creation feature (expecially for medium/small gigs, *every* season several new venues or new festival locations appear, you know?)

- the Merge Events feature (or "request to merge events" feature)

The sooner you improve the events' section, the sooner you can see some traffic and give some sense to that part of the site (expecially the search section). "social network", you know?

PS. I LIKE the general new events' look and their new creating way (with the venues' search, etc). I think you could be on the right path there... that's because it's a shame that people can't find/use/be motivated to use them!

99.9% of the users on the Beta thread asked for a grid-like library, so apparently the feedback wasn't loud and clear enough...

No surprise to see another empty promise from Last.fm, but it's quite surprising to see the community agreeing to this massively downgraded version by applauding a practically still useless product.

@kloner - Mid 2008, but I'm a graph loving stat whore who used the site almost exclusively for scrobbling, stats, recommendations and events. That's probably why I'm more sympathetic towards people wanting back features that are completely gone (I miss labs *sniff*). The lack of events did my head in when it first relauched, but then I discovered Songkick and it filled the void.  :-)

@ElliotRobinson Ha! As I say, each to their own ;-) It's all personal opinion at the end of the day. And yeah, I'm still hanging on for the display 50/100/500/1000 option that I'm sure will be coming eventually (right guys? RIGHT GUYS?), but like I mentioned above, it was the graphs and stats that kept me coming back regularly, hence I saw the picture view as a niceity rather than being useful. Course, the irony is I now have top albums/artists on my profile set to 8 images because it looks better, but that's only because this update has made it so the library is usable enough to go there for my stat fix instead!  Woohoo!
