"User tags are back" Whoo-hoo, we were really hoping for this!

And about the "Set Obsession" feature, I saw that the scrobble removal X is now a dropdown menu. I was confused at first.

I'm happy tags are back!. BUT  I've been trying to delete some old inaccurate tags I made long ago but when I go to the album/song tag itself deleting it and getting the mesage : "The following tags were successfully removed", the tag still there on my list. Can you please help me to fix this?

Tracks with an unknown date can still not be deleted. Also, now to delete one scrobble you need to make even more clicks!

The given reason is that they're running out of space "so something had to give", yet I can't see anything that's been added to justify this. A really poor change.

Oh, to be able to delete our bastard scrobbles with "unknown date". *shakes fist*

Deleting of scrobbles appears to be broken.  There is no X next to the tracks any more.  This only started around one hour ago.

Yap, but since the delete button/option  is a very used (and useful) option, it should have been mentioned in the original description of this sprint, right ?

[edit] Hahaha... what's wrong with getsatisfaction's time management ?
My post is shown as being posted "In NaN years" ?!?  Very nice :-))

"You should see three dots ..."
This idea could have been mine, because of the options. What do you think James? Any chance, that you add "Recommend on Last.FM" to that list when time permits? I would love it. (Of course, "Add to playlist" would also be great. :-)

"Recommend on Last.FM"

Why not just use the tag "recommended" and see the recommended tracks here: https://www.last.fm/tag/recommended/tracks ?

i'm glad tags are back but i hope bigger updates are coming soon.

you didn't mention that you changed the way tracks are deleted which i'm actually pretty happy about. i thought it was too easy to accidentally delete scrobbles before, which happened to me a few times.
it's only one more click away, but i bet everyone will exaggerate the "extra effort" it takes to delete.

I read this and was thinking "Yeah, it's not that difficult really. How many songs do you need to delete in one go?"

Then I went over to last.fm - and discovered I'd left Spotify playing overnight and had scrobbled the same The Smiths song 246 times!

Whoops! x-D

re: Set obsession from track list

First of all, i'm not a subscriber, but i can still select an obsession. So, thanks? :)

But more importantly, deleting scrobbles is now twice as time-consuming, and a real pain – i wish you'd change that back. (Of course, i don't delete scrobbles quite as often, but because iPhone scrobbling still acts up from time to time, i do have to do it. Besides, i delete scrobbles more often than set obsessions, i'd think...)

Ooops. Obsessions shouldn't be available yet. Thanks for letting us know.

I understand it's a bit annoying to have to do the extra click but we're running out of space so something had to give. We'll keep it in mind though

Sounds good! How about leaving it the new way as a default, but keep the (X) on the chronological track list view only? Or just put the (X) next to the three dots. It only appears on mouseover anyway...

For non-subscribers, the 3 dots do nothing (only menu selection from the 3 dots is Delete Scrobble).  You could easily replace the dots with an X and lose nothing from a space perspective over the way it was before.

Fine improvements James. <3 that tags are available again and deleting acts from line-up <3

any improvements on suggestions are welcome, will check that out later.

Full timezone support in the library : think 'we' swapped one visual bug for another, posted about this in another post.

Any word on clean-up of venue database and adding new ones?

Thanks for the library bug report and the feedback. You have a fine collection of tags, by the way.

We're hoping to look at venues soon

The personal tags list contains the wrong links, e.g. on my page:
https://www.last.fm/user/gw666/tags
The first link, 'seen live' leads to
https://www.last.fm/tag/seen+live
instead of
https://www.last.fm/user/gw666/tags/seen+live
which would be better.

I did the same mistake, it's somehow counterintuitive to have the personal tags link on the numbers on the right, far away from the actual tag name.

Great update!! Thanks LFM! My fav is:  Full timezone support in the library.  I've checked it out and working great!  Enjoying the 'free obsessions' while it's available to non-subscribers.  p.s.  I see the 'free obsessons' option is now gone but I'm stuck with a song as a current obsession. Do I have to wait for 7 days before it disappears?

Hi!

User tags might be back, but all my scrobbles are gone! What went wrong here? Last weeks and last years scrobbles are still available... As far as I remember I removed all of the tags I used over the years  some  time ago. But I didn't delete my scrobbles. Hope that is only temporary.. / years of scrobblig down the drain???

Really good to see progress here. I enjoy having user tags back, but, as I see them for the first time since like 2013/2014, is there any option to delete them? Some of them really make me feel bad, and, simply, I'd love to get rid of them, probably in the same way as I can delete scrobbles, since we have a really detailed list of added tags.

Thanks, good to hear that this is possible.

But, there's a problem - it seems like sometimes I can't delete tags in songs that include punctuation, such characters like ' , :, () or .. These songs are included in Tags I've Added, but when I go directly to the their /tag/ page - there's no tags. Adding a tag and later deleting it (both actions show green pop-up, telling me that tags were successfully added/removed) won't change anything.

Do you have a specific example we can check?

Yeah, I have few examples. I will post direct links and screenshots for better visualization.

I've tagged band Titus' Tommy Gunn three times as 'Titus' (https://www.last.fm/user/Atu666/tags/titus), but when I directly go to a song or whole album, there's no "Your tags:" section. No tags under general tags - https://puu.sh/vsoRW.png, no tags in Add Tags box - https://puu.sh/vsoTW.png. As I said before, I tried to add tag and then delete it, but it didn't work. Besides the tag in album page, I couldn't delete tags in two songs, that include exclamation mark, colon and brackets.

Same situation happened to few songs I've tagged as 'polish heavy metal' (https://www.last.fm/user/Atu666/tags/polish+heavy+metal).

But I successfully deleted many other songs I've tagged with those two tags.
And I'm not having trouble with other tagged albums, artists or songs, where artist name doesn't contain punctation. I probably even deleted few tags where names had apostrophes, brackets or hyphens. For example, everything's fine with Cro-Mags or D.R.I. - https://puu.sh/vspki.png

I could add the tag "titus" to the artist, album and top track of that artist and also remove them afterwards, so maybe you use an adblocker which disables this action? Which browser do you use?

I tried turning off my adblock, loading 'unsecured scripts' (popup I have to click whenever I want to turn on 'Friends Who Listen' add-on), using Firefox Nightly, because usually use Google Chrome, yet nothing helped.

But, well, I've noticed something. I'm able to tag these songs/albums as 'Titus' (https://puu.sh/vsSbW.png), but it tags them (not overwrites) for the second time, then I could successfully delete them. I tagged a song and an album as 'Titus' and tag page showed 5 entries. I deleted the freshly added - went back to 3. Like if those old tags are countable by general tag page, but they are inaccessible. I tried to tag something for the second time (https://puu.sh/vsT1k.png), but, unsurprisingly, the 'hardcore' tag was ignored.
It looks to me like if those tags ('titus', 'polish metal' and 'polish heavy metal') have somehow broken down through the years, since all of them are over 3 years old, and it's caused by punctuation, because I've successfully deleted many other songs tagged as that.

Deleting scrobbles is incredibly inconvenient now. Before, you could just click the same spot while moving your cursor down slowly and delete 50 scrobbles in no time. Try to delete 50 scrobbles now and it takes tens of times longer, really bad design on that part. If people are afraid of accidental deletes, just add "undo"-button and only let scrobbles be deleted from the library page when you click "more tracks" and not the front page. Other updates are nice tho.

Agreed. And STILL no fix on deleting tracks that are bugged. I have 3 artists with their left over tracks that I cant get rid of. Why cant they just add "Delete artist" button.

Setting an obsession doesn't actually work now. It just comes up with a blank modal and doesn't do anything.

You can also attempt to set an album as an obsession which I expect is either not meant to be happening or have the text changed from 'track' to 'album', again this function doesn't work

This must be a joke. Tags aren't back. Why I can't see a band list when I click on a specific tag? Where's personal library? For example, I want to find all artists that I've tagged "folk". How can I do this? This option was available in original last.fm before it got messed up.

I know, but wouldn't it be much better, if you could show "Last 90 days" top tracks on your profile and use "Last 7 days" top track for your obsession?

Well that's sort of what the current obsession is for.  By default we'll show the top track for whichever time range you've set (e.g. last 90 days) -- setting a current obsession will override that with a track of your choice, like your top track for the 7 days, for instance.

My suggestion is to use different time range settings for the top track in the profile header and the top track list in the profile body.

I was wondering, I have a 'current obsession' set on my profile (i'm a non-subscriber). I did this when it was accidentally set for everyone on this latest update.  Am I stuck with it for seven days? or forever? being a non-subscriber I have no option to change it now. Any help is appreciated. Tks. :)
