Hello friends,

We've just released the following:

Features
  • Switch to Artist - Track order everywhere (except for album track lists)
  • Reintroduce the taste-o-meter to profile pages
  • Simplified password reset form
Bugfixes
  • Album art on album pages is no longer circular on mobile (whoops)
  • Fix header metadata truncation
  • Fix issue where logout link was obscured on mobile
  • Load JavaScript quicker
  • Fix event date ordering on /events
  • Fix module teardown memory leak
We also did some work on wikis and events but that's not quite ready for release yet. The next update will be in about 2 weeks time.

Cheers,
Team Last.fm

Please do the album covers fixed... All my new album scrobbles look so bad, I've started to disable scrobbling for that album just so that an empty album art won't show up...

Please fix this

I hope it comes back soon as well, but Jon has already stated that they are currently working on it and all the logistics that surround it. I like having top album covers displayed on my profile, it will be nice when we can upload those blank ones! Update coming this week probably.

They haven't even started ("planning stage" as above reads) - it took over 6 weeks to produce this this:
  • Switch to Artist - Track order everywhere (except for album track lists)
  • Reintroduce the taste-o-meter to profile pages
  • Simplified password reset form

Well that's just not true. It took a 2 week sprint to complete those 3, plus the others on the list, plus most likely a myriad of non visual, back end changes.  The weeks prior to that, they also fixed scrobbling, duplicate scrobbles, profile album listings plus countless other minor bugs people were reporting here that are no longer issues.

"If you repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it, and you will even come to believe it yourself"

See now you've got me quoting Goebbels. Sad days indeed.

Who am I to argue with a muppet?

Again you insult me, this time with a dead nazi propaganda minister
I have an idea - leave your comments about me out the forum - I really do not appreciate you comparing me with "a nazi" Understand Chris?

Calm your boots, Sis. Who compared you to a nazi? Are we really throwing straw men around?

Am I a muppet?

You're responding to my pointing out your mistake by criticizing me?

They do 2 week sprints - they've said that a few times. This release was the result of a 2 weeks sprint. And there's a difference between a visible bug fix we care about, and a back end bug fix that we (the end user) wouldn't notice, like stability fixes.  We're not all web developers, but not knowing how development process works doesn't mean it's not real.

How about "A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on."  Am I allowed to quote Churchill?

@kill_bill I remember when they passed that law. The wikiquote founders were sentenced to 15 years each. Sad times

@firstneim Don't let my positivity upset you. I get that some people find joy in complaining the world isn't how they want it to be, but some of us just like to be happy ;-)

Plus, what would I even be bootlicking for? A free last.fm subscription?! lol

Remember Chris, if you're not perpetually pissed off and dissatisfied you're a "boot licker", an ass kisser and a "tool". Apparently, there's no middle ground around here. I thought you knew that by now? :-D

Truth is a social construct, math is not your strong point and seek the "truth" that supports your side

You only looked up the site that served you, now I like to be able and leave my junk box on - stop and think before your foot goes further down

..... now read this plz same one I posted above

that is two months ago correct? and I say about an hundred of the same right by it, it not the truth - it is a fact.

look at something you don't want to, like the other side of the coin if you are going to spread the truth

asking again - stop

The only thing "sad" is I have gone this low and responded

I know there have been lots of complaints about the new site and I know Last.FM staff are working hard to bring back features, iron out bugs &c. but is there any chance you could tell us why the site went live with so many core features missing James? By my reckoning it's nearly two months since the beta version permanently replaced the previous site and an awful lot of stuff is still missing (events being one of the major things). I don't think there's any point complaining now but it does seem a *very* odd decision... Why wasn't more work done on the new site while it was still properly in beta? I'm sure there's a good reason but it would be nice to know.

Hooray for some positive changes, the site already looks twice as good as it did just by changing the bloody track-artist order back,. And thank god the circular album covers was actually a bug. Give us back the actual ability to have any sort of personality on our profile and we might start getting somewhere.

I understand why long time Last.fm users may be enthusiastic even for minor positive changes but they forget the big picture: the site is still bad.

Honestly, I don't think anyone is forgetting the big picture here, rather we've already established from a user perspective what's wrong and there's no point in reiterating it endlessly. It's very clear that this is happening, so there's really no where to go but forward. That doesn't mean you have to like it, it just means you reach a crossroad where you either walk away or you stick around and see what happens. I can tell you that I'm not going to sit around and fume about it any more. Life is to short and there are too many other real problems in real life to deal with.

James & co. - I wanted to ask quickly about the 3 things most on my mind:
1) ability to select one exclusive stream provider -- YouTube or Spotify (or, if more stream partners are added, selecting a subset of the available ones)
2) ability to add YouTube URLs for missing videos (or flag incorrect videos)
3) when will Muzu vids be re-imported? (there are many missing ones)

Thanks!

First two are being worked on right now. I just asked about Muzu (and other affiliate) refresh and apparently it'll be looked at soon.

I expect the next website update to happen sometime this week. Hopefully it's something good like tags or album covers.

Gary's simply not doing his job properly. He can dance well. I'll give him that. But when he's busting some moves, he's forgotten to get people like Kill Bill and Sis( who are virtually indistinguishable) kicked off from this forum.

Its almost as if he doesn't actually care.

@ kill_bill Very mature of you. On what consensus are you basing your assertion that I am responsible for people who troll and flame being banned? Because obviously it has nothing to do with mods and staff doing their job, right?

Please fix the wikis and album arts fast, they really affect the way our profiles look. Same goes with tags, we need them to keep our music organised. Please fix this please.

They better not fix like 2 things again... at this rate it will take years to have a functional site.

I seriously need the profile charts and the old recs page back. I came here for statistics mostly, not 5 pictures of bands I like. Statistics and recommendations should be your top priorities, they're the entire point of the site. What good is scrobbling if I there aren't useful statistics right there? **imo**

Point is that everything is taking so much time while they shouldn't have replaced it with an empty version in the first place.

The last update can't have been on a Monday but was on a Wednesday. Worth pointing this out to people who may have forgotten how to count.

I'm going to close this thread as it's drifting off topic. Sorry for the questions I missed, we'll release sprint 169 either today or tomorrow and I'll update again then.
