Allo Darlin',

We just released Sprint 184. Interesting changes since the last update include:

  • Event shoutboxes are back!
Old shouts are missing but will return soon.
  • Events posters are back!
You can see them on event pages and upload them when creating/editing events.

Cheers,
James

I have to be the creator of event to upload poster? Why? It would be logical if everyone could do it. Just as with artist images.

I just added a poster to an event I didn't create. Worked fine although it is a bit hidden (click edit next to the 'Created by x' then go to additional info tab).

So... quite useful options, especially looking at previous updates. Still nothing really important, but I think this is good way to reach something we need the most - deleting artist/albums scrobbles (in last month amount of people saying about this rose), "about.me", groups, or something else. So.. 6/10 for this one!

PS: It will be also nice to get event search, because nowadays it's sometimes very difficult to find right event.

Don't forget to copy/paste your shouts to all the duplicates when posting on events.

Many events still show up twice in my event list. I have to admit it's gotten better though: I think at one time I had 8 or 9 Wackens there.

Do you have 'repeat track' or 'repeat playlist' selected? I've done this a bunch of times.

If not can you let me know what browser you're using?

I wish I would get the same song repeated over and over... that would be a vast improvement from what I've been seeing for weeks: using the Last.fm Radio with the Spotify web player on Chrome for OS X I'll get the first track to play - and that's it. That one track has a track length of NaN:NaN and thus keeps on "playing" after it's finished. And it'll play silently until eternity / until I close the browser tab.

Cool. Glad it worked.

somepixiessong - Sorry, but we're unable to officially support the Spotify web player - the underlying library isn't guaranteed to work with it. Sometimes it does but it can be unpredictable or be out of action for weeks. The desktop client should work fine but I understand this isn't always an option.

@James, thanks for the clarification, I had no idea that the web player wasn't officially supported.

Adding new venues is temporarily disabled

If you're unable to find the correct venue you can include the venue info in the event description.

Why is that?

Tracks page for non-latin artist is messed up, the counter of listeners is not showing...

Also, it would be great if adding events worked the same as before - a check was performed to make sure a similar event didn't already exist.

Well I am glad to see event shouts are back (posters being back are nice too I suppose), but you guys spent the month doing just that without even adding "who's going/interested" back?

What about fixing the auto corrector for incorrect album titles? You guys had did it before, got me excited, then it glitched out and stopped working, and even though it's been months you guys still never bothered to fix it. Why is that?

Hopefully the reason for this is because you guys were working on the catalogue.

I have an iPod Classic 160GB and I am able to scrobble, the only problem is the desktop scrobbler crashes every single time I do so which causes duplicates or loss of scrobbles.

I also have an 80G ipod classic, Mac OS and a mac mini and the only way I'm able to scrobble is by using an outdated version of the scrobbler. I tried searching for the thread where I found the link to download, but I can't find it anymore (perhaps because the web devs think it's far more important to be able to upload show posters than bringing back the forums and groups).

I usually try and stay optimistic about these updates - and I'm aware you're doing a lot of work behind the scenes on the database - but this seems rather (dare I say) pitiful, especially when these things are allegedly the noteworthy bits.

Shoutboxes and image uploading for events seem like low priority and minor (cosmetic) things, particularly when it's been a month since the last update. While it shows you're doing something, I'm not sure it's better than silence when the work completed appears so nominal.

I think I'd rather all hands were working on the database rather than faffing about with things like images for events, as much so it can be done and then other things can be addressed.

To echo other people here, is there an ETA for the database...even roughly? Next sprint? Next month? Christmas!?
