Hello Nasty,

We just released Sprint 182. Here's some of what's in it:

Features
  • Allow setting of location for events and recs
  • Re-enable auto-refresh of recent tracks
You can enable this in your settings or from your profile
  • Add similar artists play link to similar artists sub-page
  • Display loved tracks count on loved tracks page

Bugfixes
  • Fix long album names breaking layout on track page
In addition to this we're asking some users to re-verify their email address. We're doing this to make sure our details are up-to-date.

Cheers,
James

@ (Pill) Above: Baffling witticism(?).

In the update, “Allow setting of location for events and recs” – my events reads like this – “Your feed is empty, please try again later” (not unusual). Is there something I am missing for location or is it still not working? This feature was decent on old site because it honed in w/options with a fair modicum of accuracy (seemed same on beta) to my/others taste unlike recommendations (reminding service).

What if I don't verify my email? Does it have any effect on accessing my profile?

Hi James, can we get correct timezone adjustments from our location? Will email notifications for shouts and messages be coming soon with our verified emails?

Yes but no timeline just yet.

(I hate these kind of answers, sorry; I want you to know that it's on its way though)

Will the page be showing how many times was an artist scrobbled not only by me, but also people who are watching me (or I watch them)? If yes, when?

@Tomek: There's a third party FF and Chrome plug-in for 'Followers who listen to [insert artist]' suggested by the mods.  It makes the artists pages run slower: https://getsatisfaction.com/lastfm/topics/-friends-who-listen-new-browser-extension-for-chrome-and-f...

Could someone with a time machine please forward that post to Last.fm circa July 2015?  Or, to be safe, March 2015?

Sorry...just a little bit of venting.  I just...new foundation now?  Wasn't the whole beta thing that new foundation?  I'm just confused and this post is really just the equivalent of a publicly-heard sigh.

Not really unless auto-updates is your thing. Back in January there was some positive light, then back to this artwork quagmire. If you aren't listening to the top of the charts idol worship talent show it not here like it used to be?

Hopefully it is tucked in that library?

That is right for about 2-3 weeks uploading was a breeze. I think its the way they set up new pages? I came on here 2009 and there was more eclectic taste to go around no doubt.

Yeah, this would actually be one of the features that's easiest to implement, since Last.fm staff still has access to the old Last.fm, as they have shown us by sending us a link of the group pages with the old layout still intact. So all they would have to do is import a list and do some work to integrate it visually in the new layout.

Thanks for brining back Auto-update of recent scrobbles.  I may hope all issues have been solved now.
1 question out of curiosity about the event settings of events: What's the radius used for events being included?  I'd guess about 50km...

Ok this clears it up. I thought it was weird asking me for an email verification for an account I've had for years. Thought it was a phishing enterprise.

Not to mention tracks and albums, without having to laboriously delete every single scrobble - something which is currently impossible if they include old imported scrobbles ("unknown date").

Are you guys planning on fixing the mobile app again anytime soon? You guys fixed it a few updates ago, but shortly after it got the bug again where it crashes every time I open it. It's been doing this for several weeks now.

Still waiting about catalog album, so many album doesn't have tracklist (mainly released after june 2015 until now). when we will able to see album page with complete tracklist? if not import from MB again, then what? Please give us detail about it. it's important!

Also, when the catalog can be sorted? by release date, recent popular or the most listeners. Thank you very much. I always love last.fm :)

To repeat myself from above and some morsels; the catalogue project and the progress of;

Be fair here, you wrote in the Feb. “nothing to see” update you (staff) would us keep up to date with progress.

I know this; there was start-up problem with the google exporter as written in GitHub-Musicbrainz issue log -- then some patches, and it looks like it is a go as of last week (I don’t understand this Python lingo? Please correct me if I am wrong).

I know the project is running late by Jon’s post.

So is the export/import process from musicbrainz to this site going smooth and just the project, since it is holding up just about everything else that would be the single all-important question.

Asking for details is not the way of the walk here; nor do we really need that right now in my opinion, just an abstract -- no timetable questions – just is it going good?

Is the catalogue project running/ importing/ steady as she goes?

Nothing really necessary added. Thing from last patch + some cosmetic changes.
Welp, I don't care about counter of loved tracks in loved track page, believe me. :v

What was still not done (and it's more important imho to change):
- scrobbles of Septicflesh (it was topic to that. Three months and it's not done yet)
- "about me"
- better events page (okay, this patch gives something a bit useful here)
- groups
- neighbours
- friends instead of followers
- many other changes which didn't come to my mind now, but are way more needed than these.

So, this patch is 2-3/10 imo.

Are you still planning on users being able to change their usernames?
Photo of I_C

I_C

  • 45 Posts
  • 742 Reply Likes
That is very doable because you can always make the user use a pin number to identify yourself for account purposes, even e-mail, subscriptions, and so on.

The problem with user name changes, if you are allowing more than one name-change in a set period of time, the ability to block users suffers, change your name every so often, the blocking feature loses effectiveness. One person is happy; another is not (democracy).

//bbc for sites, images; that makes little sense not to be in place now. I think you'll see neighbors with more access to taste with a stocked library.

Understood. Personally, I think it should be only be possible once. I'm just confused as to why it's been almost a year since it was announced to be a forthcoming feature, and no update has been given.

I mean, most Last.fm users I know created their accounts when they were in high school, so they have rather embarrassing usernames, which has put them them from using the site.

Just about everything is taking too long, and it is open to a wide variety of speculation. Right now the classic 500-Server Error is back :/
