Wotcha,

We just released Sprint 171. Here's what's in it:

  • Event creation and editing
  • Set playback preferences - choose your preferred playback provider without having to wait for Spotify to start
  • Show a better prompt when Spotify isn't installed
  • Show average scrobbles per day on hover
  • Prevent spammers from sending PMs
  • Support for [artist], [track], [album] and [tag] bbcode tags in wikis
We're currently working on profile chart customisation, library date filtering, and API account creation. Personal six month charts will be in the next release.

Cheers,
James

Thanks for implementing "Add new event" again. It still seems to be broken, though.

I created a new event yesterday: http://www.last.fm/de/event/4181146+Swallow+the+Sun+at+Caf%C3%A9+Central+on+17+December+2015
But it still doesn't appear in the artists event list: http://www.last.fm/de/music/Swallow+the+Sun/+events

And I double the wish for the iCal function for personal events.

it happened to me too. I added this event yesterday and it's now appearing in the events section of one artist (Aucan), and NOT appearing in the events section of the other one.

Just checked it after dis0rder's hint:
My event seems to appear on the supporting band's event lists, but still not on the main act, too. Strange.

it's a problem and this bug should be corrected very soon, since checking one artist's events list before is currently the only way to avoid creating duplicate events... :/

hey James ... i see slowly by slowly somethings moving on.... even this way..
but (among lots of other features lost...) in your next updates do you consider bringing back our tagging history + friends / follower's origin and age ?

Every page now shows a limited amount of entries (bands, events, songs) - I do hope we get the possibility to increase that from 10 to say, 50 per page. Searching through past and future events is a pain now (e.g. if you have to go from January to December 2015)

I've always been really confused by this gap. Is this supposed to represent the empty space left in our hearts after losing the old last.fm?

they even didn't say anything about problems with library about unfitting interface and that feature made as less important and more annoying then ever. .. we can't search now by pages and see artists properly like before it's even hard to tell what's someone's profile and not about taste and library those are invisible things.. T_T 3 months and they didn't say or fix anything important! just small updates reffering to usual problems which could occure with changing servers and that's usually process, or errors that have been occuring in old version also.. T_T this became totally idiotic site with incompetent people licking boots to the money and company that bought them for mainstream and commercial purposes. I am just surprised how their programmers can be so stupid to make such an useful site to unuseful wide empty spaced thing resembling most of touch screen devices regular site for streaming music. I am surprised and that so much people still do expect something to be chnaged or made for better since it's obviously not in their goal to make this site useful like it was before..

It symbolises the gap between Last.fm management and its users. It's not to scale though.

Hello! ‘500’ errors; super bad a few days ago: No events, sometimes no homepage, nothing but net (blank).

I see it is a problem being posted around the site with not much of an answer (go fig?). Therefore, looks like I am not alone.

It happens on a fairly regular basis lately when trying -- really trying hard to get these duplicates out of my library - so for me at least I have to keep going back in a loop to artist page, hit total number of plays over and over to pull up track hit delete (about 1 out 5 will not delete?), and about 6; 7 times of this time consuming process the page/system slows then “Error 500” or newbie page simply locks. Page refresh works off and on.

Is that a bug? Seems like the new site just brought the same problems of the old and some new surprises?

Additionally; the art upload being planned [@ “official” below] - well it was also planned in an update on August, 12 -- users addressed that last week in responses to a “champion's” enigmatic clueless comment about “our” reading skills; just to have the core of the problem placed under a ‘view previous’ lid – center of page 2 in this update.

Hi Lastfm team, thanks for the latest updates. I'm pleased to hear that you're working on personalised charts. There's just one thing I'd really like you to tell me - what is going on with "autocorrect"? I really want to switch it off. Will I ever be able to do this again? Please let me know.

Got 500 server errors many times as I was adding artists for an event, making me have to redo it...(I was like quarter through a list of 160+). The 4th or 5th time I suddenly got logged out. After I tried again, still 500 server errors. Can the server not handle this? I feel like I'm wasting time.

It's like i'm gonna built or rebuilt my home from zero and besides living in it. With all the dust around me. never thought nowadays something like that could  be possible. A simple explanation of what happened should have been better.

As have already been said; I can't remove an artist from an event even though there's a button for it. I click it, the loading icon in the top banner shows up for 1-2 seconds and then it disappears, without anything happening.

It seems like the event recommendations defaults to whatever capital of the country of you've set as well, so I can't really check events for other cities or even for entire countries.

I'd also really like my tags back, or at least be able to see them in a comprehensible list.

When will we be able to see if any of our friends have listened to a specific artist? (when we enter the artist pages).

how about seeing what followers or followings (so stupid to have the two groups instead of friends) are scrobbling in real time?  This was one of the coolest things about the old functioning lastfm, seeing what your friends are currently listening to.

So you're fixing api account creation for an api that is still hopelessly broken.
I would tell your scrum master to have a word with your product owner about your sprint priorities.

Hey guys, The part of your site that I love the most is still gone - the music neighborhood in the demo playground. Just wanted to put another vote in for bringing that one back. Would love to know if ya'll have that on the menu of fixes. Thanks :)

Reason for closing: "Off topic / Rage quitter looking for attention"

To be fair, who does that? It's like people who tweet you to tell you they're unfollowing you. Seriously, who gives a damn? Just do it.

Also, what have you got against hipsters? :-P

It's important that the effect this redesign is causing is publicly known by staff and users.

Bad feedback is one thing, users straight up leaving is another. They don't really seem to be taking it seriously either so honestly I don't think they actually get it.

I don't think you understand how outrageous that claim is. Why wouldn't they take it seriously?

Acknowledge what? Bad feedback? Users leaving the site? For them to acknowledge either of those things Julius would mean admitting that the beta isn't functional and that it's basically an alpha. I somehow don't expect them to do that. especially not 3 months after the fact.

"Features I love" pretty much sums this up. Favourite feature is subjective, and I'd put money on the fact that - now, at least - they *do* know what they're doing. They're working on stuff that (I hope) they know are the most used. Just because it's your favourite feature, doesn't mean their Google analytics doesn't completely disagree with you. What stats do you have to prove that image uploading is a more important feature to site users than events? Or that the profile "about me" is more important to people than being able to use Youtube for playback when Spotify isn't available in their country?

And the only stats we have access to are Alexa stats, which are ropey at best. And they completely contradict the rhetoric that you're trying to put forward. Take a look - http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/last.fm. Does that look like users are leaving in droves?

tl;dr - Stop using phrases like "most important feature" when you really mean "my favourite feature"

fyi - there's nothing wrong with having a favourite feature and wanting it back. But just because they're not climbing over themselves to work on your favourite features first, doesn't necessarily mean they're "not listening".

p.s. - reading back this sounds like I'm having a go at Doctor Evil. Sorry dude, wasn't directed at you personally!  More the entire thread.

Do you mind listing the 7 features that you love, but aren't coming back? Maybe the community can provide some information that you may have missed on those features.

The artists in my library with 0 scrobbles seem to be gone again. Annoying, since I add them to my library as somesort of "bands to check out"-list type of thing. Just a head's up.
