This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled New field in artist profile?.

When I went today to check something on artist's profile, I saw it got additional field "known people who listen to":

And the question is here: is it an official Last.fm update? (and if so, then why there's nothing about it here?) Or is it that my "friends listening to" add-on to Chrome got update?
In my honest opinion it looks quite ugly and it's not necessary - it's too close to field with our own scrobbles and gives quite no informations.

That's doesn't look correct - are you using a custom theme/skin for square avatars?

Should look like this:

Also, hovering over the counter shows you the top 8 listeners.

Yeah, I deleted this topic as I've seen there was an official post just after I posted my one. And yes, I use a theme for square avatars. (also just realised that this new function hides some features after clicking on it, hah)

Great! Now, about that autocorrect option - I really need to be able to switch it off. Please can you tell us when you'll be addressing this?

You go to the website settings and turn it off. I don't see where the problem is?

This is precisely the problem - that setting makes no difference.

Ah, to be honest, I don't have those problems. All of my artists and their official releases are properly tagged.

Tagging can be quite a task when you have to handle different alphabets, spellings, typographic styles (' ’  ́ ′), multiple artists and so on. It's less problematic with well known mainstream artists, but if you pick rare stuff where not even the original publisher provides proper and consistent tags, it becomes a struggle. You can try to fix these tags but there are different opinions on how a fixed tag looks like, so you have messy stats on last.fm.

The autocorrection tries to get rid of these false or different spellings to clean up the database and improve the statistics & music recommendations, but it sometimes makes it worse. We could need a tool to clean up our libraries manually.

Nice that we finally have "friends listening to". But I have two questions:
1. Can we have 'friends' listed in main artist' profile? Like in add-on to explorer. (now we have to do one click to check how many scrobbles other people have)
2. In my opinion this button is way to close to our scrobbles which makes it look bad. Anyone having similar feeling that moving it anywhere else is good idea?

Yes, that was the way it used to be on last.fm and the plugin also shows it that way. So imo I'll stick with the plugin which still is the better option.
Disagree on your second point.

Friends who listen to option is great, but why is it so crumpled? And why is it hidden? It should stand in a public place for anyone who is following their friends to take a glance at.

I won't complain about the fact that only ONE real feature was added in 2 sprints' time... (the other stuff are really useless/just layout things)
... at least, this one feature ("See which friends listen to an artist") is an old and relevant feature re-added to the site. Finally. We need so many others too.

(btw, it would be nice if you added time-range, so that I can see which of my followings have listened to that artist in the last year, month etc. - is this in the future plans?)

This is all great, but auto-correct is what really needs to be addressed.
Auto-correct is turned off for my profile page, but a good portion of my music is
still being incorrectly auto-corrected. Please make fixing this a priority; it's really damaging my library.

Totally agree! It is really annoying that the auto-correction changes incorrectly the files I've tagged correctly!

If I remember rightly, I've read a longer time ago, the work on the new catalogue was finished. In between a short look on the "Music catalogue beta" announcement makes clear, there's still a lot of work to do. A short report about the status quo of this core function can be helpfull for a better understanding.

Well, that's incredibly disappointing considering we haven't
had an update about the status of the catalogue since last summer.

The sad thing is, sometime last year auto-correct went down for a matter of
hours and, ironically, all of my incorrect tags (because of auto-correct) were all right as
they should have been in the first place.

Yes, the albums and songs feature really is great. Lastfm only offers artist charts and even at that, it's hidden and not on the artist page.

What is this? My scrobbles from 2006 have almost doubled. Part of it is a darker red, and the other is a lighter half. I'm assuming one of them is my actual scrobble account, so what is the other one, and can I turn it off?

Seems to be the known issue with a changed timezone, as your scrobbles in 2017 are not visible and probably get added on the top. Set the timezone back to UTC for now.

I believe the dark red is actually the number of tracks you actually listened to during that year, and the lighter red is the number you would have listened had you been a member for the whole year and listened at the same rate. It threw me off for a second, too, but I joined in November, so I was able to figure out what it was saying after thinking about it for a moment. I'm not sure why that stat is now designated as being the official one, though; it's nice to know, but it's not really what most people will want to know when viewing a person's profile.

Automatically @mention artists when sharing your listening report stats to Twitter
This only works if the artist's Twitter account is known on their MusicBrainz profile. So if you know it and it is not listed on MusicBrainz yet, you can add it there.

Happy to see an old feature added back to LFM even though it might look/act bit different then before it still does the same thing. I'm just happy to know what my 'friends' listen to so when I want to share an Artist/song etc with them I can see if they have it already in their Library. When you click on the total # of plays to the right of their username you can see what Albums/songs they listened too.  Works for me! :))

This is a very substantial update, thank you. But can you please add back a few very basic features? The ability to remove all scrobbles of a particular artist, or to wipe our scrobble histories entirely! Also is there any news on what you're doing with the About section? Because it still sucks :(

One bug found, Jon, I hope you read this. When I go to some sites (found two by far) I see two "friends" who listen, while it's in fact only one.

Here is an example:

I have the opposite situation:
the text says I have 3 followers that listens to some artist, but the list with them contains 4 users !  :-)
Well, my own user is included in that list... (what do you know, I'm "following" myself :-))) LOL )

This is a bug, right ?

Yes, that'd be due to to users who had once scrobbled the artist but then cleared their listening data (using that feature on the old site). They're only hidden from the list at the moment, but their accounts are still included in the underlying data calculation.

For the same reason, when there's more than one page of users, you may see only e.g. 28 in the list on the first page but see the next page starting with position 31.

We're aware of these issues and are looking at fixing what's causing them :)

Cheers,
Laura

Ah, thanks, Sachin.
This is, indeed, useful, especially with my own user being written on a distinct background colour (yellow) than the others.

Maybe if no friend/follower listens to some artist we will have this mentioned strictly as such ? (as in O (zero) listeners, rather than current situation when there is no mention at all in this particular situation) ?

My overall scrobles for an artist and this new "listeners I know" are dynamically arranged in the page, so as if I had zero scrobbles, but I have 3 followers that had listened to an artist, I see this number moved to the left, taking the place where my number of scrobbles should have been.
This is somehow confusing, and misleading. Now it may be a little harder for me to grasp if I've listened to an artist -- not that much as to be a burden, but still a bit confusing.
For instance, it took me some seconds before I could understand I have zero scrobbles for this artist, as it can be seen in this screenshot:

Can this be addressed (like preserving the place where number of scrobbles are usually displayed) ?

"Listeners you know" sounds too vague (and potentially misleading).
Wouldn't it be better to rename this to the old "Friends who listens" (despite we don't exactly have this "friends" in our pages now, but only "followers" ...) ?

Bug/Display report?

First of all, thanks for bringing back the important replacement for the 'Friends Who Listen To' feature.  All information displayed is correct, but on many artist LYK pages I noticed a display/order issue.
Especially at page cut-off positions (e.g. 30/31, 60/61, ...) the user displayed does not belong on that position in the ranking.

Below you can find some screenshots from my Sabaton FYK pages with an indication of the position on which it goes wrong + a control page (previous or following page):

Example FYK for the artist: Sabaton
X - 60: http://i496.photobucket.com/albums/rr324/Jd_Jd/Sabaton2b_zpsosa8n02y.png
61 - X: http://i496.photobucket.com/albums/rr324/Jd_Jd/Sabaton3_zpsp7jse4wy.png (Place 61?)

X - 30: http://i496.photobucket.com/albums/rr324/Jd_Jd/Sabaton1_zpszu7gqk1r.png (Place 30?)
31 - X: http://i496.photobucket.com/albums/rr324/Jd_Jd/Sabaton2_zpsvi4rzspa.png

X - 150: http://i496.photobucket.com/albums/rr324/Jd_Jd/Sabaton5_zpsrx8wmfhd.png
151 - X: http://i496.photobucket.com/albums/rr324/Jd_Jd/Sabaton6_zpsoihlggls.png (Place 151?)

I can easily provide 10 other examples from other FYK pages.

Am I the only one with this problem? Will this be solved after an automatic update?
I stress that the information next to every user, also the wrongly positioned ones, is correct (according to their libraries).

Extra: Windows 7 / Google Chrome user.  The ranking issues are confirmed on my Microsoft Edge.

Thanks for taking a look at this.

Thanks for reporting Jens, we're aware of the problem and a bug ticket has been opened to investigate.

From what I understand, there are two main causes of this:

1) having cleared scrobbles at some point, and then scrobbled that item again - we can't currently take CLEARs into account.
2) scrobbling enough of the item since the last data generation to put you on a different page, although that would usually be cleared up by the next datagen run.

Honestly, I prefer the extension. This way I have to make an extra click that takes me to another page to see how many times my friends listened to some artist, while the extension looks better and shows everything on the artist page, which makes far more sense.
