Hello everyone,

We just release Sprint 196. It includes:

  • Date ranges for artist top tracks
Top tracks on an artist page now default to the last 7 days. You can also select 30 days, 90 days, 365 days, and all time ranges.
  • More detailed top listeners
You can now see a full page of top listeners, as well as their top track for an artist
  • Personal chart sharing
When sharing a chart from your profile or library to Twitter/Facebook/Other, we'll include a montage image of your top items

For those that missed it, we also released notifications on Tuesday.

Cheers,
Team Last.fm

The recommandation bar is now bigger on mobile than before and includes the red arrow. That means less space on mobile screen. I use to switch the bar off and not more black space.

I'm also interested in the next sprint James: Is anything from the users wishlist like tags, bbc and so on on your plan? And was it wrong to suppose, the developement of the groups feature was after the notifications sprint the next logical step for to do?

Which browser are you using on mobile Andreas?  There was an issue where the arrow wasn't aligned properly on firefox (mobile), which has now been fixed with this release.  Afaik, nothing else has been changed with it (maybe post a screenshot to illustrate?).

Currently I use Safari with iOs 8.41 Here a screenshot of the actual bar. Update: But I was wrong. I proofed it again. The recommandation bar is in real not higher than before. It's seems to be "only" an optical ilusion because of the red arrow. Sorry. Nevertheless psychologically this leads to the same annoying impression of wasting space on the mobile display once you have noticed the recommandation.
Thats why it's still a good idea to add a x-switch to the bar for more space while scrolling. I am sure, the mobile users would like that. Also I'm sure, you agree too.

Neat. Having the Top Tracks default to 7 days is a nice change. It's good to see which tracks are popular right now and it also includes tracks from recent releases. Previously on a lot of lesser-known pages, the "top tracks" chart usually reflected the oldest tracks, not necessarily the most popular - simply because they're ordered by number of listeners and not Scrobbles, so newer releases never appeared in the top 10.

Being able to view other user's favourite tracks on the expanded top listeners page is interesting. Thanks for making it a link to that user's library too so I can easily check out what else they listened to by that artist.

Can I ask what's being worked on right now?

I like the new share feature with image for personal charts, but maybe one @lastfm in the text message would be enough, or use a hashtag #lastfm the second time?

And could we have an easy share option to Last.fm followers/people I follow as well? Copying the link for a PM or email is too complicated, I think.

Last but not least an option to automatically share weekly personal top charts would make my related IFTTT recipe obsolete. ;-)

Also had to retweet this:

That's possibly an oversight, but you can always completely rewrite the tweet if you want.

I vote for that Hans-Jürgen. Directly beneath the twitter/facebook buttens.

Yeah, I think it's something we're considering -- I can see it being something that you might publish to your homepage feed or shoutbox, eventually.

As for automatic sharing, that's natural extension of this feature and something we want to do at some point.

Once it was an item of a context menu at the recent tracks beneath other items like tagging, love and playlist. It was a helpful & easy tool for recommand on LFM.

I just noticed that the shared image of my top artist charts seems to use the default setting of one big artist picture and four small ones, not the actual settings I use on my profile (image grid, 8 artists). Is it possible to respect that setting in the shared message maybe?

By the way, the artist top listeners overview is paginated to several pages, not only one. Could we also see friends highlighted there if they listen to the artist? And will there be top listeners for albums and tracks, too?

Jon, I read a comment you made 1 year ago where you said the ability to delete recommendations would return soon. When will this actually happen? My recommendations feed is clogged up mostly by artists I don't like and tracks I have already listened to! (whats the rationale for recommending the latter, anyway?)

I think the homepage also shows tracks that you love and have already listened to, because it is meant as a starting or landing page, especially for new users, and not as a specific recommendations page yet, although it also tries to cover that as well. As far as I know, this is not the last word for its design, but the devs are still too busy with other more important things at the moment.

Very delicate sprint. I'm not sure what to think about it.

Anyway - this date ranges for artists seems less useful for me now, so question is: will it be modified that I could change default setting for all artists in options?

Also, to not spam that much and not "up" my last non-answered questions, about notifications:
(copied from original topic, I'd be very happy getting an answer - it also seems this comment and this quoted are all about "options" settings)

including letting you know when someone upvotes a shout you've posted.

Goddamit, this sounds a bit like "we want to spam you with notifications". I didn't notice it when writing first comment, so my question: will we have wide option panel to enable / disable specific options? It will be just awesome this way.

And second question - also for users - as notifications looks exactly the same as new PM, so maybe it's good idea to have different colors for first and second thing? I imagine (for example) red color for PM and violet for notifications. It will get me informed whenever I get something less important (notification) or something more important (PM) what would be nice.

The expanded Top Listeners looks good, but I still want to be able to choose time frame of the Top Listeners (past week, past year etc). Hopefully this will come sooner or later.

Except, he can't. 6 of these albums have no artist, as you can see in his screnshot, which means, they're unclickable (and thus uneditable). Something to do with the new catalog, i presume, or the way the system handles albums with multiple artists – it fails. I have a handful of those as well, and it's driving me nuts.

I'm still mad we still can't do something as basic as deleting artists and unknown date scrobbles, but I like this update. It's probably the only one I've been pleased to read about so far.

"When sharing a chart from your profile or library to Twitter/Facebook/Other", what other, when there is only Twitter and Facebook option?

Anyway, kudos for the date ranges for artist top tracks, I really missed this feature.

My God, I could not be happier, thank you very much for bringing the top tracks back, I was quite pleased. My favorite site is slowly returning <3
What would be great, was to have a page of the lastfm own, Showing all the last world music played in the last 7 days, 30 days..etc ...

Note: it would be very, very interesting to even have the option to see the number of runs of a track in the last 7 days, 30 days ... back, as an option to see the number of executions and also the number of Banners

DEFINITELY THE BEST UPDATE OF ALL <3

i loved it.. the only thing to make it perfect now would be to bring back custom selection and tag lab <3 (and that thing where you could see how many scrobbles of an artist your friends had without having to look on their profiles)

Not the right thread for this issue, but what is the problem? Scrobbling songs from hard drive, internet, spotify? And with which scrobbling app or add on you have problems?

2 days ago, a lot of users had problems with scrobbling via Spotify. A new login to Spotify and a renewed LFM connection on the Spotify settings had solved the problem.

I remember when Last.fm added David Bowie's Blackstar in his discography when this feature was "off". But it takes a long time (infinite) to fix the tags...

Thanks for bringing weekly charts back. Reminds me of refreshing the site every Sunday/Monday to see if my own charts had updated. Pro, it finally shows that new releases are actually listened to by artist fans... con, there are really a lot fewer weekly scrobbles than I'm used to seeing. Hope LFM can start growing again soon.
