Hey guys. I really really appreciate all the work you have done to make the page look better and stuff. But this really looks terrible without the art cover on the recent tracks. Please, fix this, because this is actually really important to me and it's the only thing that prevents constantly checking Last.FM for some reason.

You can upload album covers yourself. Just go to http://www.last.fm/user/username/library/albums
and have a look.

Actually... They ALL do have album covers. But they don't appear on Recent Tracks. So?

When looking at my library several albums appeared to have changed their named by themselves and thus they did not have covers associated with them.
But OK, then it don't appear to be your problem.

Is it various artists releases or a single artist?

Both. Sometimes I listen to a whole album and maybe on one or two tracks doesn't appear the album cover. Sometimes the whole album doesn't show the album cover at all. Sometimes except for one or two singles. I don't know, it's weird. It really ruins the fun for me.

Well, it looks like the new Last.fm tries to guess the album and sometimes gets it wrong. Looking at the scrobbles using the desktop client may give a clue to what album the site thinks it should be, but then perhaps not.

Yeah, that's why it's so messed up. They should change it up to what it was before; showing the album that I have it tagged for.

Another idea. When you look at the album page, do you get a track listing?

Another test: Click on the track and see if it says "From the album" or not.

Wait another?

See you don't get it, it messed up, you are a programmer - correct? This is past the idea stage, another test stage, each update brings new problems, but older albums skipping art? "are you checking tracks?"

He has posted a page snip of that very thing right on the top of this page and there is one below me and the tracks are listed on the page; if your team can not fix it then hire someone that can or tell 'us' to live with it, this is 5 months old.

The tracks, which I circled in the most beautiful way possible, as you can see, are missing their artwork.

The album they appear on, however, is this one:

The artwork is there, but the tracks are missing. Half a year ago, before you released the new site, everything was fine with this. This happens with more albums and it's really annoying me. Please fix this?

Hi, thanks for reporting.  Tickets have been written to address the problem and the work should be prioritised soon -- I'll update this thread when I have more information.  Sorry for the inconvenience in the meantime.

Thanks. I don't know if it helps or even if it's related, but it appears as if no album cover is displayed when the scrobbled track is not associated with any album. If that care the problem would go away once the importer gets running again.

I think part of the problem is that last.fm doesn't notice what album the user has a track tagged under any more. So for me, sometimes the cover is missing but sometimes there is a cover, just the wrong one, because on the track page it's listed under more than one album.

it shows the album cover that is mostly used for the track, while it should use the album cover for the album title you are currently listening to (taken from the scrobble info)

NiNhtda, sorry I don't follow - you can upload album covers on the site now, just go to the /Artwork tab and then click +add image.

The issue I'm referring to in this thread is bug where the site displays what we call the primary album for a given track instead of the album you actually scrobbled.  That is being worked on right now and it should resolve most of the occurrences where there's no album cover or the wrong album cover displayed in your recent tracks.

I think as unconventional as it may seem, we have tried to help, desire to help with this project’s overall library (macro) quandary and be on our merry web scrobbling ways.

I think I found a bug on the website. There are 2 albums where the " +Add Image" button is missing:
http://www.last.fm/music/King+Crimson/Thrak/+images
http://www.last.fm/music/King+Crimson/Discipline/+images

Could you please sort these out?
Thank you

No, it is not a bug.

NOTE: Album covers and band images are not available due to certain
legal restrictions imposed on last.fm by King Crimson's Management.
So all KC's albums have no "add image" button.

The problem for me is about displaying incorrect album art, yet scrobbling the correct album. Very annoying, and a bit strange. This sometimes happen with songs that are on multiple albums, when my tags say only one album. Seems like the scrobbler doesn't care much about the album tag when displaying this.

hi there, the album image that is presented left of the recent tracks is often missing or not the image of the album I am listening to. I think it takes an image for the track instead of the album, can this be changed so that listening to 1 album shows only that images for all the tracks?

where are the covers? scrobbler recognizes the artist, the song, shows the right cover of the album. on the web-side on the other hand, there are wrong covers (for example, I scrobble AC/DC - Highway to hell from "Live at river plate"-album, scrobbler shows the artwork for this album. on the webside the cover of the "highway to hell"-album is shown.
Other artists: scrobbler shows cover, the website for the album features the right cover-artwork, but on the profile-page no picture is shown....what the hell??????

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Wrong album art on timeline for songs that are on multiple albums, yet scrobbled ....

When songs are being scrobbled we can now see the art for the album they're scrobbled to. Having been away for a while this is news to me, so thanks for implementing this again. However there's a problem. This example shows that some of the songs scrobbled for Dead Can Dance - Within the Realm of a Dying Sun are given the wrong album art in the library/timeline.

They are all scrobbled to the correct album though (Within the Realm of a Dying Sun), and they all have identical album tags. These two songs are the only ones from this album on the band's compilation album A Passage In Time where this wrong art is from, and where I assume the problem comes from. However, since they are all scrobbled to the correct album, they should also all have the correct art, so I hope this gets fixed. It is a little confusing and at first I thought they were scrobbled to the wrong album. This has happened on other artists as well.

There are a number of classical albums with incorrect titles and missing art covers. I've try to find an "edit" section, to no avail. Is there any way for anyone to fix these problems?

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Where is the album art on an album's page?.

When I go to an artist's page and click on the album, it shows the track names how it normally would. However, the album art is no longer next to the tracklist. It's on the top bar and basically impossible to see.

When I load new music into iTunes, if the album artwork was missing, I used the album art from Last.fm since it was easy to do. This doesn't seem possible anymore. Is this coming back/can you fix this?

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Problem with track/album art attachment..

So, first off. I'm quite pleased with the new update, for the most part. Keep it up!

I've noticed a... *bug* (you could say) with the re-addition of album artwork in "Recently played". I'm sure many users have noticed but it seems like artwork is only attached to the metadata that last.fm has on said album/release/whatever. For example.. if you didn't have a release tagged how it is on the "official" album page, then last.fm will list it as a blank album. I feel this is a pretty big flaw as many people have things tagged differently and there are a ton of releases with incorrect or empty data.

tl;dr: Attach album art to the ALBUM, not the track.

"A pretty big flaw" is an understatement. I wonder, when a song is attached to at least two different albums, which album does last.fm choose to display art from in Recent Tracks? Because it doesn't seem like I have an option here, and it doesn't necessarily show the album from my tag. I just have to hope it displays the art from the album I am scrobbling.

When last.fm stores Recent Tracks, it should perhaps also store which album it was scrobbled from, so the correct art is displayed both in Recent Tracks and elsewhere in user/library/tracks. Or at least in the Recent Tracks alone, and then maybe not show the album art in the rest of user/library/tracks.

Why is it so? I suppose that for displaying thumbnails for tracks from my library Last.fm should use covers of albums also from my library.

Ranunculus: As you can see on the Maybe Tonight album http://www.last.fm/music/Four+Men+and+a+Dog/Maybe+Tonight no songs are listed here, so none of the songs from that album are connected to the album on last.fm. This means that none of the songs you play from that album will show the art from that album in your Tracks list. Meet Me and Nancy are both attached to the album Long Roads http://www.last.fm/music/Four+Men+and+a+Dog/Long+Roads, and will display correctly in your list. This is of course not very practical, since far from every track is connected to their respective releases on last.fm, especially not old or lesser known releases. However, the biggest problem here is that if a song is connected to two or more albums (for example http://www.last.fm/music/Dead+Can+Dance/_/Saltarello/+albums) then it is seemingly random which art pops up for those tracks. I believe the album that was added most recently on last.fm or the album that was released most recently in real life, takes precedence.

As far as I can tell they have now fixed the issue with how songs only had album art displayed in the the Recent Tracks/library if these songs were "connected" to an album? This issue could lead to showing incorrect album art or no art at all. The tracks in my library are now all displaying the correct art, as long as their albums have art uploaded to them. Here are some songs I used earlier to show the problem. Incorrect art was displayed on certain songs due to those songs being on multiple albums. All songs are now showing the correct art for the Album tag they were scrobbled with:

I assume last.fm has gone back to handling this the way it did before the beta?

They appear to have (almost 100%) fixed the Recent Tracks artwork, but the artwork for tracks under each artist in our libraries are most definitely not fixed.

For individual tracks, I would suggest the artwork that shows should be for the album you've scrobbled each track from the most. Currently, it appears to be defaulting to the most popular associated album, in the same way Recent Tracks was doing up until very recently.

Albums and songs that always, always had artwork before beta is now a sad, grey area. It ́s still at least 50 % missing, because the beta was mandatory before it worked out. I miss the old last.fm every day!

What a crazy artifact. The upload button for King Krimson and King Krimson album covers is disabled. Not even a picture from wikipedia can be uploaded? What a guy.
But - surprise, surprise - upload & enjoy pictures from Robert Fripp, Jakko Jakszyk or Tony Levin for example. = Duckburg is everywhere! ;-)

I wish there was a user script where you could overlay album covers from local files on your computer when viewing certain artist pages in Last.fm. Too bad, I don't know much about scripting. :(

The album art feature still generate problems. I don't know, if the following one was already reported.
I've just uploaded a missing album art. Allthough the tracks are assigned to the correct album, it doesn't appear on my recent tracks. Can anybody help, or is this issue a case for devs? Compare both following pictures.

You have uploaded the album cover to the artist "Miles Davis & Michel LeGrand", not to Miles Davis alone. This would be here:

Good idea Hans-Jürgen. A little bit tricky, because the assigned album leads to the artist page of the duo, like you can see below. But the artist name "Miles Davis" above the track title and in my library was the right hint. Now it works, that's what I wanted. Thank you! :-) ---
