For years I've been accessing an RSS feed of my latest scrobbles, from http://ws.audioscrobbler.com/1.0/user/<username>/recenttracks.rss -- as of about 18 hours ago this has vanished. Where do the RSS feeds come from now?
Hi everyone, sorry for the lack of an official response on this.
RSS feeds are currently not available through the new API, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused by this. I've asked the team to update the api documentation to reflect this, to prevent any further confusion.
As for whether they will come back, and if so when, I'm afraid that is still to be determined. We know that rss feeds are important to a lot of people and we'd certainly like to bring back some of the more popular feeds in the future, when time permits. However, at this present time, development on the website and building the new catalogue is taking up the majority of the development team's time; so regrettably we're unable make any guarantees about which feeds might come back and when.
What would help in the meantime is if you can tell us which feeds you've been using the most and for what purpose. Last.fm used to offer ~30 different feeds, some of which were seldom used. What we're hearing in this thread and other feedback channels is that get recent tracks is the most important feed for the majority of people, followed by events recs / calendar sync. Would you say that's correct?
