Why can't we edit the scrobbles already in our libraries?

Will editing scrobbles in our libraries ever be implemented? I mean, it won't change the song for everyone, just ourselves. It's pretty frustrating to see how messed up my library is, with their being two different versions of a song based on some stupid difference like punctuation or a 'remastered edition' even though they're the exact same song. Is this feature going to be implemented soon? If so, when?

Or perhaps a better, more reliable, and more responsive Merge song/album/artist feature, if Last.fm won't implement scrobble editing in the website or the API.

The only downside with merging is if the wrong song/album/artist name is used. You already see a variation on this issue with the incorrect redirections that currently happen.
