Nobody likes what the new website has become, it's barely functional, a lot of the old functionalities are gone (the sidebar, groups for example), the social aspect is almost completely gone.  The radios randomly stop playing after about 15 songs, a lot of song videos are wrong(cover by random dudes with guitar/crappy quality live performances)...  There's just so many problems and it's like you don't give a shit really.  99% of people hate this new last.fm, you should have realized that already by now but you just want it to die it seems.  People LOVED this site and were logging in EVERY DAY, now you're just pushing them all away.  Great job on killing an awesome website.  If anybody know of an alternative that is just like the old last.fm give me a shout out, I'll gladly migrate.

I love it when people just snatch statistics out of the air. 99 % of users hate this ' new last fm'? You base this claim on what exactly? As for the rest of your post, I've read it all before. No point in pointing out to you that most of the things you're getting wound up about existed before the site regenerated because your amnesia wouldn't allow you to understand what I was saying.

What you meant to say is 'wow, I'm so narrow-minded that I find it impossible to understand that not everyone agrees with me'. Beyond you ain't very far.

Well, George, why do you like the new site? Any improvements as far as you can see? Honestly, I'd love to hear an opposing opinion.

I'm sure you would but I have already said more than once why I like the now not so new site and don't really want to repeat what I've said. Because that would be tedious. It would be much easier to say what I don't like,or, rather, what I miss. And the only thing I miss is the function that allowed us to quickly check out which of our last fm buddies listens to whatever band or artist the most. When that's sorted, this site will be exactly as I want it although I hasten to add that I don't expect the site developers to pander to my exact requirements.

I've never ever seen your full opinion about the new site on this forum. The site may cater to your needs, that's great, but do you honestly think it's even close to being the social music site it is advertised as when there's no forums, no groups, no way to see what your friends are listening to, no neighbors, no full lists of what people are listening to what artist, and no notifications for your shout box? Even if you don't use it for the social aspects, the similar songs feature isn't working, the radio is fully integrated for mainly Spotify now (which not everyone uses, mind you), and the recommendations are very redundant.

Sure, the old site didn't pander to my exact requirements either, in fact what does, but it was a hell of a lot better than this new and not improved site.

I daresay you haven't seen my full account of just why I appreciate the new site , Runeii, but it is on here somewhere. I ain't lying, I assure you.

Maybe because I don't think of Last FM as a social networking site, I'm not concerned about the lack of 'neighbour's' and groups. I didn't like the neighbours aspect anyway because it never worked for me and most of the groups were shite. At least the ones I briefly was a member of. And I can still see exactly what my 'friends' are listening to via the app on my desktop. As from the radio aspect of the site, I think you might have forgotten how terrible it was prior to site regeneration. If you weren't a subscriber, the radio aspect wasn't even there. And if you were, like wot I am, you had to put up with loads of poor YouTube videos which were frequently disturbed by boring, sometimes extremely long, adverts. I stopped using radio because of that but use it again now because, although not perfect, it's way better than it was.

For me, last fm has always been a site that collects my listening data and it succeeds in doing that extremely well. In addition to that, I should also add that since August, I haven't lost a single scrobble. Not one. Whereas before, there were sometimes days when nowt scrobbled at all. Even when the site has been briefly inaccessible, like early this morning, everything still worked for me. I'm sure that everyone hasn't been quite as lucky as me but I'm also sure that many users have been just as lucky.

Devil's advocate, Siw? Pur-lease. I'm sure you are aware that forums such as this are obviously going to attract more detractors than supporters. Please don't insult my intelligence and your own. I'm not a troll, devil's advocate, stooge or whatever. I'm just someone who is part of this Site's minority in that I actually like and admire what this site has turned into. Get over it.

Of course I don't like the new site, but also I think there's not much staff can do. last.fm doesn't have the development resources of spotify. It's been understaffed and neglected for a few years now because no one had a vision for it to grow.

we're all honestly yelling into the void for our favorite features, and there's maybe a handful of developers there to actually implement it. I hope James and everyone can find a better job soon.

Honestly I'm just happy we still have a website. Considering the year-on-year losses of millions of pounds and a huge cut in staff, I think we're lucky CBS hasn't pulled the plug yet. Now I'm not saying the new website it great, because it's not. But it looks like the new beta site wasn't necessarily a conscious choice to 'ruin' the website, more that it was a last ditch effort to save it.

There's still a long way to go and updates are slow. But the website is perfectly usable. The most crucial part of the site is functional. You can still Scrobble music and check your charts - that's the main purpose of Last.fm - stats.

Everything else we had before was a nice bonus on top of that. If you want to talk to people, look at pictures, go to see bands live, there have always been significantly better alternatives to Last.fm.
