It usually happens when I use official Last.FM web player, I get statistics only for the songs I scrobbled from an album, but not for an entire album.

This is usually happening because you are listening to an album that is either a deluxe or special or bonus album that is listed under the band under wikipedia and is not usual listed normal release but it is shown on last.fm but just does not pick it up as normal on last.fm album. You can play around and add album art to show but it will still say it is not the release you are listening to on home page. A lot of special albums with more tracks than the normal release do this and I have a lot of them in my collection.

Well apparently I am wrong on the longer albums. I just got the same thing for what album is listed on last.fm. The album is not even wrong either but it scrobbled song off the album and still says this. As I Lay Dying - Frail Words Collapse album with 12 songs. Nothing different than the one on last.fm but says "You scrobbled this artist before but not this release."

Sorry for such a long wait Jon. Here's an example of one band called Kreator. When I scrobble their albums, all I get are information of songs I scrobble, not a release. When I scrobble an artist release directly from my computer, I don't have that problem. Example:
