I installed 888LM to my model 1255R opener (Mfg. Date 04/99) using the red/white wires as in the instructions. The 888LM Red & Yellow LEDs flash constantly and it beeps every 30 seconds.
I would like help troubleshooting and fixing this issue.

I'm having the same exact issue. Wall controller worked for 2 years. SUddenly it just started flashing yellow and red, beeping..it is not working now. Any solution for this?
-
Kevin,
The flashing red and yellow indicate that the MyQ Control panel is not compatible to your opener. Can you please email me at MyQCommunity@LiftMaster.com and I will get this resolved for you.- view 5 more comments

Daron Davis August 13, 2017 20:15I'm going to reach out to support as well. According to all the documentation I've read, this should work OK. I went to the extent of simply connecting the wall module to the opener as was suggested in the forums, eliminating a wiring fault, but it still does the same thing.EditDeleteRemove

Hi Dawn,
I am also having this problem. Similar to Kevin the manufacture date is 06/99, it is a Liftmaster "The Professional Line" 1/3 HP Security+ garage door opener. I am having the issue with the 888LM, which is supposed to be compatible.
Part NO. 41A5021-1D.
For wiring I followed the instructions in the 888LM documentation. Prior to purchase I validated that the 888LM was compatible with the Security+ series as per:
https://www.liftmaster.com/Catalogres...
Could you please help to resolve this, would I be able to email you at the address above?
Regards,
Nathan.- view 3 more comments

I'm getting the same issue randomly after it working for >6mo with no such issues. I email "MyQCommunity@LiftMaster.com", hopefully there's an easy solution.

I had the same issue. The solution is to replace the 888LM.

Same problem here, also the professional line Security+ Model 41A5021-C and the Catalog also said it should be compatible.

I just purchased the Cigcwc and I'm having the same problem. I have a liftmaster 1265LM with a date of 2/99. Please help. I sent an email to the above address
-
I have the same 1265LM opener and I can't get the CIGCWC to learn. It keeps flashing red and yellow LEDs and gives a 3 quick beeps every 30 seconds or so. I pressed a red button once on the motor unit and the 'learn' button on the wall-mount controller twice but nothing happened. I have wireless controller and a one keypad wireless controller and they still work great. This MyQ thing is problematic.

That's the same kit number I purchased and ended up buying an actual 888LM to get it to work.
-
-
Jon. So what your saying is the wall control panel doesn't work in this kit, if so chamberlain should make sure they put something in the market that works. I see that Randi says he responded to your email, was that there solution for you or did they have none? Thanks Jon.

Ramon,
I received an answer from Chamberlain. The internet conversion kit you received is probabaly defective assuming proper wiring. They 100% assured me that the one we got with the kit was supposed to be compatible with our system. All I can propose is contact chamberlain -
-
Jon,
I just wanted to let you know that the kit is working perfect now, thanks to Katie from Chamberlain. She called a few days ago and told me that on some openers the logic board had to be replaced because the wall control panel was not communicating with it and that is why I would get the slow blinking lights which ment it was not compatible even thou it should have been. So anyone with a similar issue should contact Chamberlain and have them escalate it to the escalation team. I now can open and close my garage from my phone and also know if it's open or closed, works great. Thanks again to Katie and Chamberlain -

I also have a similar issue. I have a 8500 garage door opener paired with a 888LM. The opener worked well for the past 2 year and suddenly yesterday, it stopped working when I came home. I found the controller blinking rapidly and beeping every 30 secs or so. It worked after waiting a bit, but about a few hours later, it started beeping again and same thing happened. Apparently, this happened again and it's been over 20 mins and the controller still not charged yet. Any reason for it to discharge so quickly?
-
My 888lm ours doing the same thing and it's been working since Jan 2014.
-
-
I have posted a solution to this issue in the next page. (page 2)
-
-
-
-
-
Similarly, one of three functioning 888LM control panels on three separate doors that had been working flawlessly for a couple of years started flashing the red and yellow LEDs and beeping every 30 seconds or so for the last day and half. The remote still functions as does the wireless keypad mounted outside the garage-only the third control panel and that particular door on the app don't work.

-
-
On any issue where the MyQ control panel starts to display these symptoms we need to determine if the issue is with the MyQ control panel or a short in the wires to the panel.
- Remove
the red and white wires from the door control panel and from the back of the
garage door opener. These wires are located on the same side as the
hanging antenna.
Note: You do not need to disconnect the wires for the safety reversing sensors.
- Using
an extra piece of wire, connect the door control directly to the back of the
garage door opener. Test out the door control panel
- If the door control works, replace the wires.
- If your door control does not work, replace the door control
Verify there is not excess wire connected to the screw terminals on the back of the door control panel. Any bare wires touching the circuit board can cause a shorted circuit.
- Check that the screw terminals on the back of the
wall-mounted door control are tightened enough to hold the wires in place, but
not over tightened.
-
Dawn - thanks for the troubleshooting process. I too have the same issue and sent you email today at MyQCommunity@liftmaster.com

Hi - I installed the 888LM today and encountered the same issue.
The rapid blink turned into slow blink of RED and YELLOW lights and it is not operating the garage.
I have sent an email with details to the MyQCommunity@liftmaster.com as well.
My garage door opener part # is 41A5021-1D and is manufactured in 1999.
Appreciate any help in the troubleshooting. Thank you. -

I've commented elsewhere on this issue but can't find it at will. Just tried installing a FOURTH panel. The first one worked for around 5 months then started with the RAPID blinking (not slow, definitely compatible). Just wouldn't charge up. The replacement worked for around a year and then the same thing happened out of the blue. Now I have tried 2 more. The last one was sent with bell wire and that little troubleshooting trick didn't work at all. The panel just doesn't charge up and keeps flashing for days without ever just glowing steady. What changed? What is it that we're not being told? Why all of a sudden does something stop working when there have been no changes in the wiring, no other changes of any kind?
Alex has been working with me. Super nice and accommodating, but there is something going on with these panels that we're not being told and perhaps the reps aren't being told. I've installed and uninstalled many times to no avail. The MyQ light switches I have work just fine, but this panel is just not working. Have to mention that I started with the CIGCWC and the internet gateway with an existing 3255 opener. This is a new home with all new wiring. -
-
-
-
I'm having the same issue as above. I have two 888LM panels. I came home from a week away and found one of the panels completely unresponsive - the command light is out. I've disconnected the red and white wires and reconnected to no avail. I also tried jumping the wires and was able to open and close the garage door. What's going on here?
-
-
It just happened to me. Same problem I hooked it up to a compatible garage door opener and it blinks and beeps every 30 seconds. I've emailed MyQCommunity@LiftMaster.com but I get no response.
-
-
This problem just happened to me on 1 of my 3 888LM control panels. I disconnected the wires from the back of the opener which reset the system for about an hour. And then beeping and flashing lights started again. Has anyone been able to resolve this problem, short of replacing the control panel?
-
-
Mine is going crazy too. It stops working after 2 years and some months. I tried the trick of leaving it disconnected for 24hrs and reconnected it. That worked for a day and came back to the same blinking and beeping problem.
-
-
just replaced my liftmaster opener with a new chamberlin and the 888LM is giving me the same thing. Tried the 888LM on another door and it worked.
So I am assuming the new opener is not compatible with the 888LM.
Is chamberlin HBW 7675 compatible with the 888LM? -
-
I am also having an issue with my 888LM paired with an 8588 garage door opener and an 828 LM internet gateway. My issue is the door spontaneously opening and closing, sometimes only part way and when that happens the red and yellow light flash rapidly and there is an occasional beep and the the flashing stops.. This is spooky. I have talked with tech support 2 times including resetting the programing on the 8500. Any Ideas out there?
John O'Neill-
John, any chance you have a wireless keypad opener? Right around the time I started having issues with my 88LM I also had "phantom" garage door openers. After a bit of troubleshooting I found the issue was the wireless keypad.

I have not seen one response from Liftmaster customer service. This is quite frustrating!
-
-
Where you able to get this issue resolved? My 888LM is doing the exact same thing. Sent liftmaster an email 2 days ago... No response.
-
-
Nope. Just broke down and ordered a replacement unit. Installed it tonight and everything is back and operational. With only a 1 year warranty, there is not much recourse we have because it appears Liftmaster doesn't really care that they have a product that is failing.
-
-
10-4 thanks for responding. I didn't want to order a new one and it didn't resolve the problem. Hope I don't have to order a replacement unit every 2-3 years!
-
-
It turned out that I had a corrosion short in my sensor s at the bottom of the door. I talked it through while testing various things with the rep on the phone. He talked me through the whole thing. I had gone with a 98 LM to simplify things and it was also presenting problems. The 45 minute phone call worked it all out. the 888LM was never the problem. It was the2 sensors at the bottom of the door that need to see each other to make sure nothing is in the way when the door closes.
-
-
Same problem here. I have 3 888LM paired with 3850 openers. No problems until this week when one starting beeping. Powered everything off. I get a few minutes of fast blinking (no sound) of both LED which I assume is the 888LM charging, followed by both LED blinking every two seconds and a ta-da beep.
Checked the safety sensors and nothing appears misaligned.- view 14 more comments

I've got the 888LM open. I'm not quite seeing how you can remove/change the capacitor. It seems to be permanently attached to the board. Please help!
-
-
Josh,
When you heat up the soldered joint on the back side, it will be easy to remove the old capacitor. Before doing this, note the markings that indicate what the polarity is - usually a dashed line on the side matching the negative markings on the board..
There's more info on this in other posts here...
Before applying the soldering iron, bend the old capacitor "up" so that it's perpendicular to the baord. As soon as the solder melts, the capacitor will lift right out of the board. You can then insert the new one and solder it to the circuit board ("CB"). After you solder in the new one, clip off the extra wire that will extend beyond the soldered joint that isn't needed.
Again, as others have cautioned, be certain to look at the polarity marks on the capacitor. This is CRITICAL. There are a LOT of youtube videos showing how to solder CB's if you've never done this before.
It sounds more difficult than it is... trust me. Good luck! -

I was having the same problem with blinking lights and beeping. I pulled the board and one of my capacitors is indeed bad. Bought a 5 pack on Amazon for $17.55. My unit is less than a year old.

I'm in the same boat.
Emailed MYQ Community support 2 weeks ago.
No response.
Disappointing to say the least. -

May 2017 user story. My capacitors were NOT bubbled out but having the same beeping and blinking red and yellow lights.
I ordered capacitors from the EBay link (now green) and was able to desolder the old ones, put the new one in place, tested both the button and the MyQ app to open and close the door without issues. I will upload a document with the new 2017 pictures and information that I encountered with some soldering experience. Thanks for all the excellent guidance in this thread !! -

FYI -- LiftMaster is doing the right thing and replacing these for free of charge. Simply call their customer service number at 800-528-5880 and state the problem. In fact, the rep told me they recalled all the old
Ones and now have a newer unit with a fix in place.-
Mital,
I just called customer service and explained the problem, that I have 4 of these openers and that I have already replaced 2 capacitors in one unit. After a lengthy hold, I was told "There are NO known issues" with the 888LM unit, and NO recall. I asked the polite customer service person to go to this site and read the numerous complaints about capacitors. Did you receive a new unit? Did you have to send them documentation or the serial # off the defective unit? Thanks! -

I have a LiftMaster 8500 garage door opener. My door panel controller (888LM), started to beep and blink red & yellow lights rapidly since yesterday. When it is in that state, I can't control the door opener with remotes, remote keypad, or door panel controller (wired to the opener). It would eventually come back to the normal steady yellow light, then I can operate the garage door opener again. it keep repeat the beeping/blinking red&yellow/steady yellow cycles until today, when all lights are off...nothing works. I called the service number 1-800-528-5880, explained my situation. The rep answered the phone took my info said they will send out a free replacement Door Panel Controller. Nice.

I had same issue. I called the number provided, spent about 10-15 minutes on hold. When agent came on the line I explained the issue and referenced this forum posting. There was no useless troubleshooting or anything, and they ordered me a new control panel. Total time on phone was roughly 20 minutes. Only downside is that they gave me a delivery date of approximately 2 weeks. Hoping it arrives sooner than that

Liftmaster did finally contact me by email and has offered to send 2 replacement 888LM's to rectify the problems I've had with the original pair I bought. I replaced them, but I'm glad to have 2 in reserve in case the replacements suffer a similar failure. I'll be sure to keep them in a cool dry place to baby the capacitors!
Good luck, everyone. I hope you are taken care of to your satisfaction as well. -

I am now having the same problem as well. I have 2 Jackshaft 8500 models and one started beeping last week and will not open unless I power everything off wait a few minutes, restart. Then a few minutes later the same problem will occur. The other has not yet had the problem but I almost feel like I should just have both replaced immediately. This is such a hassle, in the middle of winter no less.
-

F.A., I've requested a customer support agent contact you. Look for an email later today. Lauren

I have the 8500 with the 888LM control and last week my control started beeping and blinking in the middle of the night. I held the lock button and it would return back to normal but about 8 hours later it started beeping and blinking again. I found this post today and it is a big help. I will open up the controller and see if I have some pregnant capacitors and change them out. I don't like the hassles of customer support telling me how to troubleshoot from a script someone wrote them. Thanks everyone.

I have three 8500 openers and had this problem about six months ago and I left the unit powered off and it's worked since then. Just yesterday another door had the same problem and powering it off has not fixed the problem. I swapped wall controllers (888) and it did not resolve the problem. I called in and spent 45 minutes on the phone and the Customer Service rep had not seen this thread either. So either the Tier 2 group has not provided this information to the Tier 1 group or I found a new person. This is very frustrating to have to deal with if Chamberlain knows this is a problem. Customer Service is sending me a new wall unit but it will be a week or better before it gets here..

I have just encountered the same issue with one of my 888LM's.
I have two Chaimberlain LW3500 WhisperDrive garage door openers (installed in 2015) along with a CIGCWC connectivity kit and a second 888LM control panel. This setup has been working flawlessly since installation but yesterday the 888LM has started beeping constantly with the red and yellow lights flashing. I finally had to disconnect the control panel from the wall since nothing seemed to remediate the issue.
I know this unit it compatible with my garage door openers as it's worked fine for over two years. Any recommendations?- view 1 more comment

Since this morning, I also have the same issue with my 888LM. Blinking red and yellow lights, and beeping. No response from door, but the door works fine with all other remotes. Took off the MyQ pad and looked at the circuit board, and it also has an expanded capacitor. I have it disconnected on the garage bench because nothing will stop the beeping.
-
-
I have three of these 8500 units and have already had the capacitors replaced on one unit. Now another one of my 888LM controlers is beeping and flashing red/yellow lights. These units are less than 3 years old. I refuse to keep paying the high cost of an overhead door repair like the last time.
