Thought I would summarize what we know from the now rather large thread on the subject:
1) There is a serious problem with the 888LM control panel: It can suffer a failure that leaves doors open
2) The problem may be related to capacitors shorting out
3) The problem persists in recent units manufactured in 2017
4) LiftMaster offers to replace faulty units
5) There is no official confirmation from LiftMaster that the new units fix the problem, or even acknowledging that the problem exists
6) Anecdotal evidence (same capacitors still employed in new units) suggests the problem has not been rectified
7) When doors open due to this failure, the door status in the MyQ app (or on the web site) do not seem to get updated, and door opening/door remains open alarms do not appear to trigger
8) While LiftMaster is quick to respond to individual customers, they have ignored requests for a public acknowledgement, recall program or even an admission that there is a widespread problem
