App incorrectly reports door open
Posting on behalf of a friend. On my advice, he had bought a MyQ Smart Garage Hub. Now his app is claiming that the door has been open for 13 hours, whereas it's actually closed (as verified by his security cameras.) Why can't MyQ get something as basic as the correct open/close state of a door right, and why would it randomly pop up this alert while he was on his way to work (and not near his house?)

The status that MyQ app shows is based on the position of the door sensor. When the sensor is in a vertical position and in range of the hub the app will show closed while horizontal will show open. If the app is not accurately reflecting the status of the door it is possible either the door sensor was not installed properly or its battery is low/dead.
Here's an article, below, that outlines how to position the door sensor. Please let me know if this works.
