I’m Frustrated

Can't connect 828LM to my Netgear Nighthawk X6/R8000 - Flashing green and blue

I have never gotten past the flashing green and blue lights.

On my 2nd 828LM.. first one was from Amazon, second one is from Chamberlain/Liftmaster (as a result of troubleshooting the first one with no success).

Up front, I did by-pass the router and connect the 828LM directly to my modem and got the solid green light which equals success, but obviously can't run it that way.  This does suggest that it is something to do with my router or settings.  The router I have though does not show up in the non-compatible list.  I have had zero issues with any of my other connected smart or otherwise devices.

I have done soft and hard resets, tried different ports on the router all without any success or change in the flashing green and blue lights.

I can sorta see the internet gateway connected in my connected devices... it doesn't appear on the initial screen but only after I go into 'access control'.  So I was able to grab the MAC address and assign a static IP to the 828LM so that I could open up the ports for it.  However, I am not sure I am doing it correctly.

Here is what I have found and been provided in terms of ports that need to be open (so that the 828LM can connect with the appropriate liftmaster servers).
TCP/UDP port 53 open (DNS)
•Inbound and outbound UDP port 80 open - only for Wi-Fi product made before Sept. 1, 2015
•Inbound and outbound TCP/UDP port 2165 open - only for Wi-Fi product made before Sept. 1, 2015
•Inbound and outbound /TCP port 8883 open.

I am a little perplexed by the open ports as a solution as it is my understanding that the green and blue lights flashing means that the gateway is not connecting to the router.  but then again, it sorta is, as I can see it on my Access Control list

For these steps I am doing them all in the port forwarding/triggering section of Advanced->Advanced Setup->Port Forwarding.  Is this right?  I am confused by the port 53 with the DNS in ( ).  What does that mean?  Are different steps needed?

Under LAN Setup I have RIP direction set to <both> and have gone through the various RIP versions with no luck or change.

Wireless security is set as suggested (not mixed).

I have also assigned a static channel... 11... but with no luck.

My calls to Liftmaster/Chamberlain have mostly been good with well intentioned folks.

I have attempted to contact Netgear, but they want me to pay for the contact.

I also bought 2 888LM Wall Mount Controls.... so I could make my Liftmaster 3800 'Smart' enabled.  I am thinking of just returning it all... but really want this to work.

Help.
