I have a MyQ door opener, and it has the ability to try to close again if it is prevented from closing (by a an animal or child tripping the sensor). However, when I set the re-close time, it makes the door close after that amount of time even if I have not tried to close the door.
I want the door to stay open until I close it. Then, if I close it and it senses and obstacles, then I want it to retry based on the time that I set.
Is there something that I am doing wrong in the settings?

Larry - I want to make sure that I understand what you are looking for. We have a timer to close feature that you can set to close the door after the amount of time that you choose. Are you looking for this feature to only work if the door doesn't close after you attempt to close it? Or anytime the door is opened, it will close after that set amount of time?

Thanks for the response. I am looking for the first one. I want it to stay open until I try to close it. When I do try to close it - if it doesn't close due to an obstacle (let's say that I am driving away with my car and don't notice), THEN I want it to try again.

The feature has to be turned on at all times to be able to catch when you are leaving and the door didn't close. If you want the door to stay open while you are home and not close when you have the Timer to Close(TTC) activated you can suspend it so that it will hold open and bypass the TTC.
