Every Time I close door with app I get a Not Responding Message, then a Door Closed Message

Hello,

I installed a 888LM LiftMaster Security+ 2.0 MyQ Wall Control UPC retrofit door control panel on my Security + Garage Door Opener.

I also installed a 828LM Internet Gateway.

I have everything paired, and an account created in the MyQ App on my phone.

I am able to send Door Open and Door Close commands to the garage door.  Opening the door through the MyQ app works great.

Every time I close the garage door through the MyQ app, the app shows the door as closing for about 1 minute, then gives me an error that "garage door is not responding" then about 30 seconds latter I get a push notification that the door closed.

Any ideas what troubleshooting steps I should take?  I am not sure if it's an issue with the Internet Gateway, Door Opener itself or the control panel.

  • Matt - My suggestion is to delete your opener from the MyQ app and re-add it. This should take care of the issue.

  • Hello Dawn,

First, thank you for the quick reply.

I followed the instructions to delete the Garage Door opener from the app, then re-add the garage door opener.
The issue from my original post still remains.

I did notice something that may help diagnose this issue.  As soon as the door is closed, on the control panel (888LM) the orange and red lights flash quickly for about 1 minute then stop flashing.  As soon as they stop flashing, it seems like  I get the notice on the phone that the door is closed and the app also correctly reports the status of the door as closed.

  • Ok, I just want to confirm that I am understanding this correctly. When you tell the door to close through the app, it does. Then you get the error message and then you receive the notification after the red and yellow lights stop flashing on the door control. Is this correct?

  • Hello, yes what you have stated is correct.
I tested it several more times and here are the exact symptoms.

    • A request to close the door is sent through the MyQ App
    • Control Panel (888LM) begins to beep and flash to indicate pending door closure
    • Door Closes
    • As soon as the door is physically closes, the red and yellow indicator lights on the panel start flashing
    • In the My Q App, the door shows as closing until the timer reaches 1 minute, once it reaches 1 minute the app gives a door close error message (even though door is physically closed)
    • About 20 seconds later (1 min, 20 sec from when door close request was sent) the red/yellow lights stop flashing
    • As soon as the red/yellow lights stop flashing, the rule that sends me a Push notification as soon as the door is closed, sends me a Push notification that the door is closed, and at that point the app also shows the door as closed if I reload the home screen.
