Garage Door Opener Controls Beeping
I have a LiftMaster 8500 wall-mount garage door opener with an 888LM control panel. The control panel has started beeping, and I cannot figure out why. We do not have a backup battery. We do not have an Internet gateway. (These two and the door sensor are the only things listed in the control panel manual for troubleshooting the beeps.) The door sensor is clear and seems to be functioning. The garage door opener seems to be working normally. The beeps are somewhat random, happening in random intervals anywhere from a few seconds apart to 15 minutes apart. The beep pattern is sometimes three short, quick beeps. Sometimes two short beeps and a long beep. Sometimes 2 to 3 sets of two short beeps and a long beep. It's completely inconsistent. I've e-mailed LiftMaster, but they haven't replied other than the automated e-mail saying I can expect a reply in 1 business day (which didn't happen). The beeping is getting incredibly irritating. Does anyone know what could be wrong?

Welcome to Liftmaster beeping hell! I eventually broke down and replaced all of my units. However, another person posted what is believed to be the ultimate problem - capacitors going bad in the controller. If you do some digging on this site, you will find a post that includes pictures of the capacitor and how to replace them. And for what it is worth, none of us have ever received any response from Liftmaster!

Here is the link to the capacitor image and discussion ...

As of today (2016-12-08) that response was posted 5 months earlier, FYI :-).

Update!!!! I literally just hung up the phone with support and they are sending me a new 8800LM unit. I told them exactly what was going on and he told me the unit was defective. I gave my address, he gave me a case number and an order number (was also emailed to me). The call was literally 6minutes long. No need to order capacitors and Jerry rig your controls. Call them 1-800-528-9131

Hello,
Had similar behavior with one of my 888LM keypad units. Just started randomly beeping (three short toned but rapid beeps, sometimes only two short toned rapid beeps). Changed the 9V battery in my outside Wall mounted keypad. Didn't solve issue. Wiring in tack between 888LM keypad and 8500C motor unit. Had a second 888LM unit that outright failed (no LED indicator at all).
Called the 1-800-528-9131 number provided above and got Chamberlin / Liftmaster Support. I needed to provide serial numbers for the 8500C motor units, but the call was quick otherwise and they're sending me two replacement 888LM units. Should arrive in a week to Canada.
These garage door openers have a 5 year warranty. I suspect that as long as your motor units are within this period you'll receive new Wall keypad units without any hassle.
Good luck to anyone else with the issue. -
