I apologize that I missed this entry. Thank you Br Mo for bringing it back up to the top. Have you tried deleting the notifications and recreating them?
Answer Title: How to create an alert for the MyQ® Garage (Wi-Fi Hub) or an Internet Gateway

I am having issues as well. Just installed the system. Very hit and miss with the notifications.
-
-
Another thing that can cause an issue with notifications is a low battery in the door sensor. Replacing the battery should resolve your issue.

I am using the gateway. The status indicates correctly on my iPhone and on the pc.. Notifications are the issue

I apologize Roy, is it that you do not receive the notifications at all, or that they are delayed? There are some steps in the link below that may correct your issue. Please let me know if they do not. You can also reply to me at MyQCommunity@LiftMaster.com.

I am also receiving no notifications, and there is no event history. System & sensor are brand new and just installed. I can open & close the door from the app with no problems; and the app correctly shows whether the door is open or closed & for how long. Alerts have been deleted & recreated. When I try the Test button with any of the alerts, I get a notification that says 1Jan 12pm. Zip code and time zone ARE correctly set. Pressing the test button on the sensor works as advertised. Just no notifications (exc Test, as described here) and no event history.

Feb.5/2017 I too am having the exact same problem. I can open and close the garage door remotely via Android, iPhone and computer but get no notification on the push or e-mail even though I have created rules for both opening and closing. I don't get any event history so I wonder if it is a software issue. I had the garage door opener professionally installed by a very reputable installer so I'm pretty sure it wasn't something on the install. The system is brand new so I don't see it as a hardware issue with the sensors, opener or wall panel. If anything the only hardware problem could be with the gateway itself but I have a solid green light and everything but the notifications work (which is very frustrating). Even the test e-mail and push notifications work. I think I'll try uninstalling the software the re-install and see if it works. Any other thoughts/advice would be appreciated. Thx. -Dean

See my comments on Contacts Lists... If the MyQ sender isn't a "known" contact, depending on your settings, the notifications might be getting blocked. (Re-installing software won't help if that's the case.)

In my case, the problem was that the email sender (sending the alert notifications) was not on my Contacts list, and therefore "unknown" to my Messaging app. That plus a setting I had configured for message handling from unknown senders. But if you're consistently getting Open, but not Closed, alerts, then your problem must be elsewhere. (I would think either the sensor unit, or something to do with the particular rule settings you've entered. Online I noticed some reporting issues with rule settings spanning midnight) I will say now after a few weeks of regular use that the MyQ app is simply not 100% reliable. It works most of the time - 90%+ - but will occasionally fail to send the alert (or send alerts for an Open door that's actually closed), will occasionally refuse to open or close the door from the app, and will occasionally depict the wrong door position in the app. Opening/closing the door from the wallswitch or a remote resets the system and things then work again.

Thanks for the feedback Sam. I've ruled out blocked notifications as I am receiving the "closed" notification. I have the rule configured to send a notification anytime, so that seems to rule out the rule spanning midnight. Interestingly I've set up a single rule and checked both "garage is open" and "garage is closed" options. I receive a push notification every time the door is closed, but not at all when the door is open. I've opened and closed the door several times in a row repeatedly to rule out an issue with the communication between the opener and the gateway (if it is an issue with the link between the opener and the gateway it would be extreme coincidence that the link fails each time on the open notification and never on the closed notification). This, to me anyway, seems to indicate a hardware or software issue, so hopefully someone from liftmaster will see this post and respond. I've also uninstalled the software and reinstalled, deleted the garage door opener and re-added it with no change. I did notice that when I watch the operation under the "places" the message shows that the garage door is "Opening for xx sec" when the door is open the message is "Stopped for xx min" (ie the message is never literally "Open", whereas when the door is closed the message actually is "Closed for xx". It's hard for me to believe that the problem is that the software generating the alert is looking for an event with a different name but that certainly seems like it could be the issue based on the behavior i'm seeing.

Oh! I didn't realize you were trying to use a single rule for two different things. Have you tried entering separate rules for open & closed?
-
-
Yes, even when i use seperate rules the same thing happens - i get the notification for door close, but not for door open.

I have also started having this issue. The no notification for opening and just recently started to have the issue with closing. I noticed that my app doesn't even recognize any events at all. I have used the garage yesterday but it doesn't even show on the app.

OK found out what my problem is, the charging cable for the receiver was chewed up (thanks bunnies). I have replaced it and it's all good now.

1Brandon, thanks for the info. Let me pass this issue along to the technical team. I'll be back with you shortly. -

I too am having the same issue as Brandon Yip, but I didn't change phones. Just started happening with the latest update. Tried all the uninstall options. Removing alerts and re-adding, etc.

is this resolved? I don't get email notifications either. If I hit "test" to have the system send a test email notification (i'm assuming it goes to the email account I'm signed on with as I see no where else to configure a target email address), it says "Sending Test Alert Message failed!". It worked a few months ago, I am just getting around to looking at it and found this forum. any help in resolution would be appreciated! thanks.

1Hi Rick, happy to help. To start, have you tried deleting the notifications and recreating them? Chuck -
-
Chuck, thanks for the quick reply. When I posted the question, I had not deleted and recreated, but as of now I have. I also tried doing the changes from the app and not just the website. I had not tried the push notifications before either and am noticing that those also give the same failure notice: "Sending Test Alert Message failed!". If I try to test from the app on my Android device, I don't get an error, but I don't get a notification. I've also noticed that my history is intermittent now. I have two items today (one open and one close event for each door) and the website shows the wrong door state for one of my doors. I'm going to change batteries on the sensors to see if that is the state culprit, but I can't imagine that effecting notifications (test button on web). Thanks for your help.

Rick, thank you for these details. I'm looking into this, and I'll respond as soon as possible. Chuck

I am having same problem as Rick (above). Using the internet gateway (828LM) I am able to open / close the door and view it's current status from my phone and my web account. I have an alert set whenever the door is open > 15 min but no alerts are received. No alerts are received when testing form the app and the web page shows the "Sending Test Alert Message failed!" error. I have deleted / recreated the alert, power cycled the internet gateway as well as my router, deleted the app and reinstalled, deleted the device from my account and started setup form scratch, all without success.

I am not getting push notifications and the test is not working. App will open and close the door and says it is opened or closed but will not send push notification that I left the door open. This is a new problem and nothing has changed on my phone or anywhere else. I see this is being worked on. Any idea when it will be fixed?

My notifications are not working consistently. But it seemed to be after adding a 2nd notification. Notification #1 tells me when the door opens and closes. Notification #2 tells me if the door has been open for more than 1 hrs. When I added #2 it seems now to not send any notifications consistently.

Hi Chris, when you say your notifications are not working consistently, what do you mean exactly? Can you give me an example, perhaps?
The system that processes alerts runs every 60 seconds, and it can take up to 60 seconds before an action to create an email or to send a push notification occurs. Your service provider may also add a delay to receive notifications. Typically, alerts are received within 90 seconds.
When you log out of the app the push notifications will be automatically turned off, as of app version 3.65.
More information is available at this link: http://bit.ly/2BwnlVC.
I hope that helps. Lauren -

i installed 2 888LMs and the 828LM internet gateway. i created my account, added my devices. i'm able to control my doors with the app. i created 2 alerts. one for each of my 888LMs for open/close. i tried to test the notifications. i'm not getting any notifications. seems like this is a major issue for everyone...
