It is really sad that My Q doesn't listen to it's customers!
It is really sad that My Q doesn't listen to it's customers. They have a good product, but don't seem to want to make any options available to there customers for voice control through devices like Amazon Dot, Echo, or Alexa. Customers have been requesting this for 2 + years now. Frustrating!

The problem here is that there really isn't competition for Chamberlain/Liftmaster. Genie? Lynx? They exist, but just barely..... Chamberlain's recalcitrance on this issue just might be the big break for one of them. That is, IF they are bold enough to step out of Chamberlain's shadow and do business s it exists today.

Hi,
I just finished creating a step by step instruction on how to do this and you can access the instruction via https://github.com/jbnunn/Alexa-MyQGarage/blob/master/StepByStepInstructions. Please note though that line 34 of the instructions need to say DOOR_STATES in all caps.
Please follow the guide carefully if you are having trouble getting this to work as I also posted some tips there.
Also, be sure to download the latest copy of main.py from https://github.com/jbnunn/Alexa-MyQGarage/blob/master/main.py as the original main.py was missing a colon at line 72 that was causing problems.
Lastly, if you are worried about security, you may opt to comment out lines 204 to 208 from the main.py code by inserting a # symbol at the beginning of the line, so that you can only ask Alexa to close the garage but not to open.
Hope this helps, Good luck!
