Just bought a new home and cannot add the Craftsman garage opener to MyQ internet gateway.
I just bought a new home. Previous owner had a Craftsman Assurelink Garage door opener, and a Chamberlain that was not MyQ. I'm pretty sure the previous owner took the Craftsman Internet Gateway with him when he left. So I purchased a MyQ retrofit upgrade for the Chamberlain, the Liftmaster Retro fit package which has the wall control and the internet gateway. I installed the wall control and the internet gateway, and created an account with Liftmaster. I was able to get the Chamberlain with the new MyQ wall control to work with the internet gateway. However, when I try to add the Craftsman Assurelink garage door, the garage door flashes it's lights when push the learn button during setup, but the process comes back with "Device not added" and times out. I have a strong feeling this is because the garage door opener is paired to an internet gateway that the previous owner has (or got rid of). What are my options if this is true. How can I check or get my garage door opener removed from an old gateway?

Contact LiftMaster technical support via email or telephone.
If by email, provide your MyQ account email address and the gateway's MyQ Serial Number, with a description of the issue (as stated above). -

I contacted them, and after about 1 hour on the phone, trying everything we could, no luck. The garage door motor lights flash/clicks when I try to add it to the gateway, like it's receiving the gateway's signal, but it never connects and times out after "waiting for device". Their initial claim was that the Craftsman Assurelink doesn't work with MyQ Liftmaster Gateway 828LM, but their own website says it does, and the rep I was talking to actually agreed that she thought they were wrong. They escalated it to a technical team. So frustrated.
