Hi all,
Long story cut short, we had a LiftMaster LM60K-MB installed many years ago (maybe 7) in a house we were building. Now that the house is finished and the garage has been cleared I decided to plug in our LiftMaster so we begin parking the car in our garage.
Unfortunately, although the logic board appears to be absolutely fine, the garage door will not open or close. I've got a strong feeling the capacitor needs replacing, but as I cannot see it I'm assuming it must be hidden in the motor housing.
Does anybody have experience with changing a capacitor in this model of LiftMaster? The manual can be found in the link below, but unfortunately it doesn't give any insight as to where the capacitor may be.

Many thanks!

Hi LCZ...I hope this comment finds you well...I'm not a door specialist but I can say if you opener has a DC motor...there wont be a capacitor that you can change. I would check and ensure that the safety protection beam is connected and aligned correctly because I had an issue similar to that at one time and by adjusting/aligning the beam I was able to fix it.
I hope this helps you out ! all the best ! :) -

Hi Gregg,
Thanks for your reply. That would make sense, it's unlikely a capacitor is squeezed into the motor housing.
Unfortunately, we do not have a beam :-)
I'm planning to call someone out Monday morning. The service is pretty cheap and will save me some time. We'll see what happens.
Thanks! -

I just discovered the "DC motor" sticker hidden on the upper side of the motor. It says 500v capacitor underneath it.
Anyway, I've been advised to buy a new opener as ours is around 7 years old and the cost of a new motor is not far off the cost of a new system. -

LCZ, that's probably the right call. Let us know if we can help. Lauren
