I have a new WiFi router at home. The new router has, and needs, to have a different SSID than the original WiFi router. I now need to move my MyQ Garage device from the old WiFi network to the new WiFi network. What is the best way to get the MyQ Garage onto the new WiFi network?
Changing the SSID of the new network is not an option.

Jim,
All you need to do it to clear the settings on the hub and go through setting up the hub on the new Wi-Fi network.
To clear the settings on the hub, press and hold the setting button (gear) until the LED light starts to blink blue. When the LED is blinking blue it is ready to be set up again.

I just had to put the myq device into 'network setup' mode, connect to that network, let the browser come up, then choose 'modify this network' - I did not have to reset anything.

Hi Dawn,
I have exactly the same issue (I replaced my router) and am really struggling to understand the directions above. When you are talking about the hub, I think you mean main unit the physically opens and closes the door. It's the only place I see blue LED light. I don't see a gear button, I see a big yellow button, and up arrow a down arrow and blinking blue light. I see the light blinking blue like its supposed to, so I go the the keypad to program the wifi. When I do, I get a message that says Wifi Setup Started On..
And then it just sits there. The initial setup was easy and great. But getting it to work with the new router has been intensely frustrating. Help please! Thank you.- view 1 more comment

I think the gear button is if the hub is a separate unit and not built into the opener unit on the ceiling.

Somepeople have hubs which their units connect to the internet with, others have hubs built into the openers.
You have to go through a similar setup to the one you initially did.
You put the main unit/hub into Wifi mode - you then go to your laptop/phone and connect to that network. That should bring up a config page on your browser - again - the same way you did the first time.
This time, you will see an option to modify the network on your browser. There you select your new network. -

Guys, I have been struggling with this too, but here is my solution:
- On you myQ main unite : Press the Gear button until a blue led blinks
- On your PC/Mac or whatever connect to the Wifi network myq***
- On your browser go to http://192.168.0.1
- Start the Setup until you select the new network and enter the password
- On the myQ main unit the led goes back to solid green STOP YOU ARE DONE! -
-
I can not make any of these instructions work. I select the myqxxx choice for the wifi network and when i try to use the setup.myqdevice.com in safari on my I-phone, I get a message that Safari won't open because I am not connected to myQ device
-
When you put your MyIQ device into wifi mode...on your iPhone, once it shows you are connected to the MyQ-xxx network, go to your phones browser and insert the IP address 192.168.0.1. This should take you to the wifi setup page. Once you complete and join your homes wifi network you can then use the MyQ application from your iPhone.

That worked for me.

I suffered with this for a week and finally it worked. I had to press and release the LEARN button on the garage door opener 4 times until it finally beeped once and LED started blinking (to indicate it was in Wi-fi learn mode). Then, on my phone, I went to SETTING, Selected MYQ-xxx network to connect. When I was connected to MYQ-xxx, I selected 'Learn more about recommended setting to Wi-fi.."(see picture) which took me to LiftMaster (see picture) where I could change my Wi-fi setting or erase the Wi-fi setting

I have a Liftmaster 8550W with MyQ tech built into the head unit (motor assembly). There is no separate Wi-Fi hub for this unit. This garage opener works with a "Smart Control Panel" (this is the wall mounted button with a screen placed near your garage entry door). None of the instructions above are correct for this type of assembly. What you need to do to reset the Wi-Fi network for units without a hub is to FIRST put the unit into Wi-Fi setup mode by using the smart control panel to navigate to MENU > PROGRAM > WI-FI SETUP. Now after doing this go to the head unit and then press and hold the black rectangular adjustment button until you hear 3 beeps (approx 6s). This is the button between the up and down arrows. Now proceed to pulling up the available Wi-Fi networks on your phone or tablet. Select the network with the MyQ prefix. Then using the internet browser on the same device navigate to setup.myqdevice.com. At this point you will be able to find and select your new Wi-Fi network and enter the password. That should be it. You should be good to go! Best of luck all!

Eloy - I have the same Liftmaster and just had to change my network. I followed your instructions and it was spot on only I didn't even have to hold the button for 3 beeps. It wound up beeping on its own and I went to the next step and it worked fine.
Only issue I have now is that it beeps when the door is closing. How do I shut off the annoying beeping noise ? -

Hi Scott, your opener will beep when you close the door from the app. It’s a warning to make sure anyone in the vicinity of the door knows it’s about to close, and there is no way to turn off this beeping.
If you are experiencing beeping in addition to when the door closing, can you describe when it happens or how? Is it beeping every few minutes one time? Or a series of beeps? Thanks, Chuck -
-
I changed my wifi network at home so I had to reprogram the opener. I noticed the beeping after the reprogramming. I could have sworn that it wasn't beeping prior to me doing this ???

Happens while door is closing. I understand the reason for this happening but I could swear it was not happening prior to reprogramming but maybe my memory is not so good ??
-
-
Scott, your garage door opener is programmed to always beep when you close the door from the app. It would have beeped prior to reprogramming. Let us know if there's anything else we can help with. Chuck
