Multiple Users/iPhones?
How many devices can be paired with the MyQ? Do they have to use the same account or can each user have their own?
-
Hello MaryAnn, apologies for the delay. We recommend a maximum of 16 devices per MyQ Internet Gateway or MyQ Garage. They can be added to the same account. We do have multi-user functionality coming to the app. Please look for a future release with this feature. Until that time, all users will need to use the same account unless you would like to separate the devices by Internet Gateway or MyQ Garage.

Patricia,
Any chance you can email me a screenshot of that? I am trying to reproduce that message and I have not been successful. My email address is MyQCommunity@LiftMaster.com. -

Multi-User account functionality is sorely needed. Right now I have to give my kids my log-in credentials. That gives them full control of all the settings. Everyone in your IT department could tell you that a terrible security structure. You need and Administrator setting and then be able to assign Users.
What if I wanted to give my sister access to my garage door while I was on vacation then later revoke access? Can't do that today without changing your own password. (And then making every user change too.)
Bad design needing a fix ASAP.-
My suggestion is to have a separate password from your regular ones and maintain. Though the multi user capability is something I am interested in I also worry that the more accounts you have and are linked with separate passwords the more potential for a breach. It is a scale thing where multiple accounts can be tried in a brute attach vs only one.

We are trying to use this system in a multi door, multi building, multi user application. We have separate gateway devices for each building and several doors programed. No problems there. Just short of having each employee create an account and programing 30 doors to each account is there any secure way to have multiple users yet. Thanks

Is the multifunction ability available yet? I just got my gateway and would like to know prior to setting it up.

what is the ETA on multi user functionality? That is a huge failing of this system.
-
-
Even multi-user notifications -- not only would I like an email/push notification (but so would my wife on her phone that garage door left open by one of us). It would be nice to have multiple email sendouts too (not just main user email, but also to wife, email-to-sms text gateway, etc). My iphone push notifications are not reliable.

I to am highly interested in the multi user function. I don't need my other users having admin access to my account. I would also like to have admin controls to give a user limited control as I wish. Such as a sitter, or person looking after the house while I am away. from reading thru the post this option is in high demand. What kind of time frame are yall looking at before this is launched?
-
-
I realize that you have a basic monopoly on garage door openers but maybe someone in IT could put some time in on this issue.

Seems they are not interested in hearing our request...
do some searches for " universal wifi garage door controllers" and you will come up with a few that will easily attach to ANY brand opener. simply connects exactly like the wall switch. Also here recently they have a few other brands now going to this as well... I will be switching my brand loyalty over soon due to the lack of good support or even a reply here.-
Completely appalled by this lack of basic functionality. Please advise how to formalise the request with high priority for your engineering crowd.

It has been 2 years since this thread has been created... WHEN IS THIS FEATURE AVAILABLE! I've got a car dealership full of MyQ Doors and am trying to add multi-user capability for my employees. Plus one at my house, I'd rather not give full control to everyone..

I bought a device as a gift and could not believe they did not think of such an obvious scenario as multiple users. Unbelievable! If they didn't think of that, what else did they overlook? I'm afraid my system can get hacked and some nut will have access to my house. I'm not entering my real home address or PII that can reveal the location of my house (why do they make us put that in anyway?).

Is multiple users on iPhone feature available yet? As a workaround can you enter the same account into a different iPhone?
-
1. No it is not (MyQ) - I installed the gateway and set it up last week. No multiple users option (yet?).
2. Yes you can enter the same account into different iPhone. Then you can set up a security code to NOT allow that user to reset your Account info using the app. -

The way I solved this problem for now is by installing two apps on my phone: MyQ and Chamberlain, which is the same product just a different name. And I use different accounts for each app.
Hope this helps. -

This is crazy, this is a 2 year old thread and this issue has not been solved. Highly upsetting to say the least, this is an extremely lack in support, updating, and shear neglect of a products this company still puts of to the public.
-
Agreed. And it also looks like they just revoked their API key too.
-
-
Such a waste... at the minimum since it seems like liftmaster is at a stand still, they should at least allow companies such as Smartthings, Iris, Etc to interact with the product since those systems already have a fairly robust platform built and they also have many capabilities (multiple users) in comparison.

I suspect that LiftMaster is focussing more on compliance to such standards as Apple HomeKit where other applications can do the controls without their needing to write their own. This would be a more manageable approach that enables greater overall integration.

Not sure what the current status is. What I need to do is be able to notify multiple users of the same event. For example , notify all users (or a select few users) that a particular switch has opened or closed. How do I do this?
-
-
Does anyone know if the new MyQ hub with HomeKit will support multiple users?
-
-
You can INVITE other iOS accounts/AppleID accounts to your Home, and then they can open your garage doors, turn on lights etc... Is this what you mean by multiple users?
-
-
I just added my wife as an additional user to MyQ for the garage door. Just downloaded the MyQ app new phone, entered my login info for the MyQ app on my other phone, and it worked. Android

Yes- you guys needs to rework the entire app. As a homeowner, I don't want to provide my login details to babysitters or housecleaners.
You should have multiple users at different levels (ie admin, temp users, parent/child settings, etc.) -
-
Chris, we are working on a multi-user feature that performs exactly the functions you want. I'll have more details on that feature in the future. Lauren

They’ve been saying this for years....I’ve given up. (I started this thread 3 years ago and got the same answer then.)
-

I also gave up on this myself. I added a SmartThings hub to my setup and added the MyQ to it. No I can share an monitor access for my whole family.

Hi MaryAnn and Luis, thanks for your patience. I'll share more details to this thread about this feature as soon as I can. Lauren

Sorry, way too little and way too late. What makes this answer any different than the one I got 3 years ago?

MaryAnn, I'm sorry I can't share more. I can say that our beta testing is complete, and that the feedback received in our beta testing phase will ultimately result in a product that better meets customer needs. Lauren

Tom D, thanks for reaching out. Because of feedback we received in beta testing, the product’s feature set is being reevaluated, delaying its launch. We'll post an update to the MyQ Community as soon as this feature becomes available. Chuck

Hi Chuck
It has been 3 years!
What kind or type of feedback you are getting?
or not planning to release?
I would like to know the possibility.
I have to choose Which opener to buy.
Please let me know.
Thank you.- view 1 more comment

Tom, we are currently testing multi-user functionality and we will announce updates as we have them. Thanks for checking in.

People, the lack of multiple user support has been an issue with MyQ for years. Who truly knows how much longer it will take or if it will ever actually happen. If you want multiple user support get a SmartThings hub on Amazon for $40-$50 and enjoy. You will have the ability to share access to whoever you like, as well as take advantage of the countless capabilities of the SmartThings hub.

The multi-user functionality is not yet available. We do not have a date as of yet for the update.
Are you getting the message, "The username or password you entered is incorrect. Try again. (203)"? If you are, please double check the username and password. You can sign into the same account from as many devices as you have. If you continuously get error 203, after 8 times, it will lock the account. If the account locks, just click forgot password to unlock it.
