My Liftmaster 8500 is falsely triggered by my neighbor's ham radio signal.

My Liftmaster 8500 is falsely triggered by my neighbor's ham radio signal. How can I correct this opener problem?

  • The opener is probably not triggered by neighbor's Ham radio, but may be triggered by the neighbors garage door remote if the neighbor's remote has be inadvertently learned into your opener.
I suggest that you erase all remote controls learned to your opener (this will erase the neighbor's remote from your opener) and then teach all the remotes you use back into your opener. See opener's manual for erasing remotes and relearning remotes.

  • Thank you, but no. I have erased all codes. Even when non-responding to ANY standard signals from openers, the door will still open with a strong 80m signal.

This is a serious security issue as this implies that any strong signal near 3.5MHz will open any door with a similar controller regardless of code setups.
