The serial number required in the MyQ app when registering a device is the serial number of the Internet Gateway or MyQ Garage. If you have a MyQ-enabled opener (MyQ logo will be present on the opener), an Internet Gateway is required. Other solutions include the 888LM and Internet Gateway or the MyQ Garage. Ask us to find out which is the best for you!

Where does it state additional purchases are required for MYQ to work, I must have missed that. Purchased the 8355 for this capability, which is advertised, how do I get what I need? How much additional$$'s?

Tim,
I apologize I missed this post. The opener comes with the MyQ technology but an Internet Gateway is required for the opener to work with the app. The part number is 828LM. I have included a link to the gateway.

For those of you who own the internet gateway already and have an 11 digit code with NO actual MyQ serial number. My 3/4 hp Model WD962MLEV does not have a MyQ number and only has the 11 didgit serial number. I have the internet gateway setup, my garage door opener setup, and everything functioning properly. If you are this far and do not see the actual garage door within the app to control it.
Follow these steps to add your garage door to your app:
https://veterangaragedoor.com/faq/how...
1. Open up your app, click the "+" symbol and "Add New Device"
2. Click "Garage Door opener"
3. It will ask you "Are you adding a Wi-Fi Garage Door Opener?", the important part is you want to select "No".
4. Now on your actual garage door opener you want to click the big yellow learning button, your lights will flash and you should be all finished now.
Took me awhile to find this answer and I did not read it anywhere if I overlooked it in the installation I am not sure. This should hopefully solve this question for those of you with a similar setup. -

I am so confused here. I followed the directions and all I get is the error message . "That gateway or hub serial number was not recognized. Check the serial number and try again. (303)" I called and spoke with a customer service rep and he was no help. just kept saying I need to make sure I had a dual band 2.5 gig modem connection. before he could even walk me through any trouble shooting. not sure how that makes sense. he was no help and talked to me like I was an idiot. I got this wifi opener so I could use this app and this service. any help here? please I have a lift master part number 001D8199-1. model 8355w. do I have to add this added wifi hub to make it work?
