Set order for garage doors

I have 2 locations with a total of 6 garage doors. I would love to be able to edit the order that they appear in within the iPhone app. Right now you can manage the doors, but the only option is delete and rename. It would be great if on the delete screen we could click and drag to re-order.

I do not want to have to delete and re-add, or change the names to be alphabetical or something.

    Rick,

This is a known issue and we are working on it. As soon as I have a fix, I will update the information here.

  • I am running the Liftmaster MyQ app on a Motorola Droid Maxx with the Android operating system.  I installed two garage door openers, one for a small (9ft) door and one a large (16 ft) door.  The small door is on the left when you look at them physically from the outside, and the large one is on the right.  When I installed them in the app, the door icons were reversed, with the small door icon on the right, and large on the left.

I called tech support, and he checked around and said nothing could be done to change their position within the app display itself.  I asked if I were to uninstall the internet connection to the openers, and reinstall them in the opposite order of installation, might that switch them?.  He said to give it a try.  I did so, and it still showed the small on the right, large on the left.

My two doors are named simply "Large Garage Door" and "Small Garage Door"

When they didn't change, I wondered if their position of the icon in the app was just based on an alphabetical sort of the first character of its name.  So without uninstalling and reinstalling, I simply went into the app,  hit the gear icon, and changed the two names by adding a single digit and space to the front of the names.  That fixed the problem.  Now they display in the order I want them to:   "1 Small Garage Door" and "2 Large Garage Door"

I was talking to tech anyway, and they said that nobody had ever thought of trying that, and he made a note to get that communicated to their tech staff.

I saw someone write about how they had tried to change the names to change their icon's positions, but they didn't change.  But so far mine is staying where I want them.

  • This didn't work for me. I had already named them "1st Garage Door", "2nd Garage Door", etc. So I went in and changed them to "1 First Garage Door", "2 Second Garage Door", etc. The positions didn't change.

  • Under the alphabetic/numeric principle, mine are named "Double Garage Door" and "Single Garage Door" and "Single" shows up first and Double second.  So, the order alphabetically does not help mine either.  I really don't get why they cannot add sort order, just like you do within Stocks or other applications.

  • Hmmm.  I just went in and changed my "2 Small Garage Door " to "3 Small Garage Door" and it jumped to the other (incorrect) side of my "2 Large Garage Door" icon.  Then I changed it to "2 Small Garage Door" and it stayed in the same place (incorrect for what I want, but still correct if the position is being controlled alphabetically).  Then I changed it to "1 Small Garage Door" and it jumped to the other side  of the "2 Large Garage Door" icon (correct location).  And it held overnight.  I just turned the phone off completely, rebooted it, and it is still on the correct side.

In my first post, I described my phone hardware.  What are you guys using?  Maybe that is the difference.

    tq

  • My wife has an iPhone.  Later today I may try to install the app on her phone and see how it behaves.   It is possible when they ported the app to the other operating system, the did it differently, or the operating system itself might just behave differently.  But I agree with Jay, they should have made the ability to set the location of the icon as a feature.  It just seems to be hard to get them interested in that now.

  • I looked at my wife's IPhone 4s, and I had already installed the Liftmaster MyQ App in it.  As expected, putting the number at the start of the title does not change its location.  On my Android phone, it shows the "1 Small Garage Door" on the left, on the iPhone, the "1 Small Garage Door" is on the right.  So it looks like the fix works on my model of Android, but not the models we have of iPhones.
