This is a mess - technologically a nightmare, overdone and I too am stuck in an infuriating loop! I created my profile, followed all the instructions, but I just go round and round and round. For techies you guys are truly morons!

When you log in with Photosynth the first time, you'll be asked to create a profile. If you click "Okay" on the prompt below, you'll get stuck in a loop asking you to create a profile again. What you need to do is go back to IE and create the profile there. Once that's done, you'll get a page with a bright red box in the middle of it. At this point, you can click on OK and create your synth.

Between Matt's and Nathanael's posts, I finally figured this out after having the same problem as Carol. I started the Photosynth program from my Start Menu > All Programs.

I really believe that the first dialogue box should TAKE you to http://photosynth.net instead of to the MS Live logon screen.

In any case, I'm glad to have found this site and its solution.

All he means is go to http://photosynth.net and sign in at the top right hand corner of the website.

"IE" is a common abbreviation for the Internet Explorer web browser. It would work just as well to use the Firefox 3 web browser if you already have that installed. Again, the only important thing is that you sign in on the photosynth web site. That is where you will create your profile.

Why is there a problem in the first place? It's ridiculous and demonstrates an incredible incompetence. It is quite unbelievable that this level of incompetence should exist at this point in software development.

I've just come across this problem. I can log into my account just fine on the website on a computer, but cannot login on my iPod (app & device are both up to date). Whenever I go to connect my Microsoft Account within the app, it goes to a screen where it asks me to create a username for a profile (although I *already have one* and have used this app to upload 10 photos just last month). There is no way around it other than to create a new profile (would have to upload and highlight all of my photos all over again). Or I guess delete the app and start over (lose all of my photos). And everything on here I've seen that's related to this issue is outdated by 5 years, so it's not much help to someone using a smart phone device.

This is ridiculous. Why is this even a problem?
