Not accepting new images?

I know zoom.it is not officially supported at this time, but it appears the service has been unable to accept new images for the past 24 hours or more. Is this likely to be a permanent condition or is it something we can expect to wait out? Any approximate ETA on image creation working again?

Thank you.

Hi Bill

Thank you for your reply, but still not working.

Hang on, we're a little busy...

Zoom.it is experiencing heavy load, so we're not accepting new images right now. All existing images and embeds still work. Please check back shortly.

Can you check please ?

thank you

Thanks for the quick response; however, I'm still getting 503 errors with the message:

Yup, still investigating.

This is a good time to remind folks that zoom.it is not a supported service. There's a few of us that do our best to keep it running as time allows. But there are no guarantees on it's availability or long term viability.

I know that's frustrating to here, but unfortunately, that's the current reality.

Hi Bill,

Thank you again for your reminder. Thank you also for your help here, very appreciated.

So you mean, any time Microsoft can stop this service completly?
Any other alternative on my magento platform ?
I have my own server, maybe I can setup something.

thank you
Cedric

PS : Did not find any other makers with same quality for zooms, free or not. :(

zoom.it uses two freely available implementations of Seadragon technology. For browsers that support Silverlight, it uses Silverlight's Deep Zoom feature. For all other browsers, it uses the open source Seadragon control in the ASP.Net Ajax Control Toolkit. There is also a project you can find on the web called "Open Seadragon." This is a modification of the ASP.Net Seadragon Ajax control that removes dependencies on the ASP.Net framework.

Content for any of these rendering technologies can be created offline using Deep Zoom Composer, a tool available from Microsoft - also free. Deep Zoom Composer will generate a template web page with the zooming image that you can modify and host on your server.

The unique capabilities of zoom.it is the Azure-based engine to create Deep Zoom images, and a little web client coding magic to detect if the browser supports Silverlight and seamlessly select the appropriate rendering technology. Beyond that, it's pretty easy to do everything else yourself with free software and tools and your own web server.
