How much free space does your hard drive where your temp folder resides have? (By default it's your Windows drive, although it's possible you may have customised it at some point.)

There's no way in the world that the image features found in 15 photos would cause Photosynth to run out of memory if you have 4GB RAM onboard, so there's something else going wrong here. I've made 700 - 800 image synths with only 2 GB of RAM, so it's not a problem with the number of images.

This could be the WIC problem. If you have XP SP2, then there might be a memory leak so that if you've created a small synth already then the second one will run out of memory, or if your images are large, 15 could cause you to run out of memory. The work around is to upgrade to SP3 or install the Windows Imaging Components (WIC). Here's a link:
