Why Can't We Upload Images?

This is great, very useful guys. But why can't we upload a large image and get it converted? Most of the images that are on the web cannot fully benefit from being viewed like this, we should be able to upload our source, large images and then apply zoom.it to it. Maybe just apply a rational limit like 6000x6000 pixels?

Yeah, I hear you guys. It ultimately boils down to the fact that we're a labs group and this is an experiment. In other words, we're not a product group, and this isn't an officially supported Microsoft product.

Because of that, we were (and still are) very wary of actually hosting user photos, because we might go away at any time and all those users would lose their photos. That's something we greatly want to avoid.

By setting up our site to take URLs only, it frees us of that burden; we become a cache (since we have the source URLs, we can reconvert them if they're ever purged from our cache).

With the new API, we're hopeful that actual products that take and host user photos will integrate with Zoom.it to automatically send uploaded photos to Zoom.it. That will hopefully get you the best of both worlds.
