Hi!
I would like to navigate along a pre-made or imported track. For example: I recorded an offroad track on a previous tour, processed it outside Locus (reducing points, straightening etc.) and re imported it into Locus. Now I would like to start at one end and have Locus navigate to the end of the track like it does when it does "normal" navigation on tracks/routes it computed by itself. This would be really useful and a fantastic feature for rallies, roadbook tours and the like.
Is it possible to do this with Locus? And if yes: How to?
Mike

You can tap on the track ( you must hit a point) then activate Guide on.
Then Locus show you the distance and azimuth to the next point in the track and then switch over to next point....... And so
If you call that Navigation, I don't know ;-)

Yes, but it would be great if the "switching to the next point" is automatically done when you're in the proximity of the previous one.
You plan a offroading tour using waypoint and route over them.
Locus could show distance and bearing to the next waypoint.
When you approach close to this point (there are several methods dist < x meters or passing the point bearing to the point is 90° or 270°) locus could switch to the next one.

Hmm, are we all saying the same? I can have Guidance on for an imported track (gpx format) and the guiding switches all the time to the next point and the next etc.
I have it set for beeping when I am more than 50 meters off the imported track. All fine for me when I am walking. (And no, it's not what I would call navigating).

sorry to trying answer so late ...
so, I also agree with henkvanderspek. This feature is already there. Maybe little bit description
- when you import any track or when you record a track, you may simply tap on this track and start "Guiding". By guiding in Locus is mean "navigation" along path or on waypoint, that show just bearing and distance and may use some sound notification settings. For such track cannot be used typical voice navigation because there aren't any orders how to work with crossroads etc ...
- so if you want to use imported track for voice navigation, this is currently not possible as I wrote before. Anyway "Guiding" option is perfect for walk or bicycle I think and should cover most needs for "outdoor tourist navigation"
hope this answered your question, otherwise feel free to ask

Thank you for the helpful reply. Yes, this wortks for following an existinmg track. Did not know how to do it, so this was more an issue of the docs rather than of the software :-)
Thanks again,
Mike

It is possible to guide along route in better way than "beep".
When of route program may say "turn lef" "turn right" or even give azimuth,
when passing waypoint same direction will be useful.
It could be done by showing arrows (left/right/strong left/sharp left) or even better playing short .wav files or using TTS.
I think trekbuddy has something like that.
To bad can not program, so can not help :(

Hi,
I think this topic is already closed. Anyway what you say is I think good idea, so I suggest publish it as a separate new idea here on forum.

I tested the guiding option with the "beep" if you are getting far away than 50meters.
But doesn't work so well for me.
you will hear the "beep" if you are too far away from the waypoints or the track?

Isn't this the same topic as in "Ideas": "navigate imported track with turn by turn voice directions" (https://getsatisfaction.com/locus/top...? So if all of you go there and "like this idea", may be Menion will start working on it.

I'm glad to announce new BETA version of this feature. Almost 17 votes here really means a big interest in this feature. If anyone want to check testing version, here is a link http://forum.locusmap.eu/index.php?to...
